You definitely should be able to boot from cd. I used to have a netfinity 3000 and regularly booted off cd. However, there are 2 possibilities here: a. your cd-rom is faulty b. your cd disc is seen not bootable I would suggest checking whether you can boot from this cd disc on another machine-if so, I would try swappin cdrom in the netfinity.
I had the same problem.
There is a cd that came with the server called "IBM RAID Support" that is a must have to reconfigure the hard drives.
It took me a week to find the ISO image.

The disk that comes with the machine is called the NOS in the manual. It is also known as ServerGuide 6.0.3 which will config your Netfinity up to Win2000 Server. I used ServerGuide 7.3.06 to install Windows 2003 Server. The latest version (IBM ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD v7.4.17) is on the support IBM web site:

Hi , if your dont have any data, try to get the IBM Netfinity CD for 4000r which supporting the OS 2003. Usually IBM provide a cd on each NEtfinity server. Check on the IBM website for more details about your Server Compatibility on 2003 server.
then proceed to re-intalled the OS.
