Question about Maytag Performa PAV2200

1 Answer

Squeeling noise As soon as my machine hits the spin cycle it starts squeeling. When I open the lid the drum makes an abrubt stop. Haven't been able to find anybody with a similar problem. When the drum stops, there is no squeeling so I don't think it is the brake. Any suggestions?

It could be just a dry belt and pulley. You could try the old squeeking car fan belt trick and rub soap on the belt. You can even buy sticks of anti-squeek from automobile outlets.

My admiral washer ATW4475TQ0 makes a thumping noise at end of spin cycle and when lid is opened during spin. What could be wrong?

there are stabilizers on the drum if they have fell off or broken away the drum will swing wildly around on spin this will cause the drum to "hit" the inside of the washer,,,check the drum stabilizers are in good order

Washing machine

Hi,

Here is what I suggested to another person with a similar request......

Not knowing what model machine you have, I would hazard a guess and say it is your break solenoid or break arm or a variation on a break system.

After the spin cycle, the break solenoid or break motor engages a break arm to stop and lock your spinning drum. The loud clunk is normal especially in Simpson and Hoover top load machines.

You can check this by putting the machine on a spin cycle. Once the machine gets up to speed, open the door. You will hear the clunck and then the drum stops abrublty. When you close the lid again, you will hear the solenoid release the drum, and then the motor starts spinning the drum again.

If that is the case, it is normal and no need to worry about it. However, if you did not have the noise before, then best to get a repairer to check it out.

Regards
Ash

Washer stopping abruptly at end of spin cycle.

Hi, it sounds like maybe some dust has gotten in the basket drive pads causing it to stick. Has it been happening long? Sometimes it will work its way out. Try turning the tub with your hand clockwise. You can also put a heavy load in the washer (wet) and let it get to a high spin. Then open the lid and see if it starts stopping slower.
If this doesn't clear its self up, you will need to change the basketdrive.
Please let me know if this has helpped.

Thanks

Kenmore 80 Series washing machine - loud banging at end of spin

With the lid open, set the cycle to spin and press the lid switch button with a pen. Wait until the drum gets to full speed and release the lid switch. If the drum makes a knocking/ thumping noise and doesn't stop spinning within 2-3 seconds, the basket drive block is worn and needs to be replaced. (The basket drive block is located on the gearcase drive shaft, under the tub and agitator) If this has been happening for a long time you may need to replace the brake and drive tube assembly as well.

Basket drive block part number is 389140

If that's not it, let me know and I will try to help you further.
Good luck!

Loud banging on spin cycle frigidare washing machine model no. fws235rft2

If this is a front loader this is a common problem. Unfortunately, it is also a very extensive project (about 8 hours). The tripod supports that attache the drum to the center spindle commonly break. The remedy is to replace both the front and rear tub, and the basket as well. It is also recommended that you replace the drain pump as well. Generally, they will cover the parts (not including the drain pump) under warranty but the labor will be a customer pay.
