I have an Orion MTS Stereo tv. the sound is good, no problem with get pictures out, or turning the station. But the pictures are a much too dark, also when I play a video tape the screen is still much dark.
If a conventional picture tube type set it will have a high voltage transformer inside with a focus and "screen" control--in this case the screen needs to be adjusted up slightly.
Adjustment is inside the set so you have to have back off and be careful as high voltage is present when set is on (need it on to adjust the screen control just up a tiny bit).

Have you had any kind of magnets close to the tv set? I had a brand new sanyo do the same thing. I had pulled the speaker box out of my truck and stood it up next to the tv (not thinking about where I put it). Turned it on a few hours later only to see a messed up picture. I moved the speaker box to get behind the tv and the picture got better. Moved the speaker box back to the truck and after a couple of days the picture was back to normal. These were 4 large magnets on these speakers. Maybe I helped some!

Problem Solved:
Take your connector with the 3 colors red, white & yellow and plug into VCR OUT.
The
other end (w/ 3 plugs) goes into the INPUT on the back of the TV. Next insert a
VHS Tape & search the TV for input or a channel below #2 for
Cable#1,2,3 or AUV Channel.
In this case; Channel AUX #1
Shows / Plays Video w/ clear sound & picture.

The flyback transformer, and some other components may have failed. The main power supply may also be damaged.
It is impossible to know the exact failed parts without trouble shooting the set.

Hello mel2003,
This problem is caused by the loss of vertical deflection. Either the vertical output section of your TV or the vertical coupling capacitor has completely failed. In any event you will have to have a TV technician fix this set, BTW I hope you have not been playing the TV with the line on the screen this will burn the TV screen.
I hope this helps
Thank you,

• Check the antenna/cable connections (see Chapter 2).
• The station may have broadcast difficulties. Try another channel.
• The sound may be muted. Press VOLUME.
• If you hear no sound, try setting the MTS feature to STEREO mode (page 81).
• Make sure the SPEAKERS function in the AUDIO SETUP menu is set correctly (page 83).
• If you are not receiving a second audio program from a known SAP source, make sure the MTS feature is
set to SAP mode (page 81).
• If you hear audio that seems "incorrect" for the program you are watching (such as music or a foreign
language), the SAP mode may be on. Set the MTS feature to STEREO mode (page 81).
• When using an external audio amplifier, if you connect the amplifier to the VAR. AUDIO OUT jacks, the
volume of the TV and amplifier must be set above 0 or you will not hear any sound (page 20).
