WHEN ANY COMPUTER RESTARTS ON IT'S OWN AND THE INSTALLATION OF UPDATES IS NOT THE REASON WHY THE FIRST THING TO CHECK FOR IS THE SHUTDOWN TEMPERATURE SETTING IN THE BIAS.
It may be that the processor and the system board are exceeding the temperature that has been set for the system to shut down. There is a need for such a system in order to protect the machine from dying from overheat.
It may be that you have a component level fault that needs a repair but, either way, the supplier should handle the issue.
If the iPad is frozen or stuck, hold down both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button. This will force the iPad to power down.
The iPad screen will display the circle of dashes which indicates it is busy. Once the iPad has finished shutting down completely, the screen will go completely black.
Once the iPad's screen is completely black, hold down the Sleep/Wake button for several seconds. This will allow you to restart the iPad.
When the Apple logo appears in the middle of the screen, you can release the Sleep/Wake button. The iPad will restart shortly after the logo appears.
over a year with the same windows installed?, first of all and most cheap solution probably, make a backup of all your info (Pics, videos, docs), be sure of having your laptop drivers and format your laptop hdd, depending on your sistem install window 7 or windows xp (Titan ue, will do it for you), then the drivers, antivirus, malware protection and a firewall, if that doesnt work maybe a loose memory, try to run some memory tests to be sure (You can find some software on the net for this purpose), try to remove the hdd from the laptop and check for virus and malware on other machine with a good and actualized antivirus using a sata/ide/usb cable this are cheap and it shouldnt be hard to find one on some electronics or computer shop... if none of this works you should take it to a tecnician. good luck.
does it ask for password? have you shut it down and tried rebooting?

I suggest to mess around with the monitor buttons and see if you can disable it from sleeping from there. If not then try enabling it to sleep on your computer settings. A good restart after any changes is always helpful.
