When we try to turn the toy on it just gets stuck at the screen that says Leapfrog. It's on an a/c adapter so it's not a battery issue. We also tried it with and without a game cartridge. It hasn't been dropped or exposed to water. It just randomly turned itself off and then wouldn't turn all the way back on.

SOURCE: My son's leapfrog didj will
This happened with the first Didj we bought. Struggled to open the battery case with the stupid recommended dime. [Use a screwdriver instead - better able to push down the lever inside the case.] The 1st Didj never turned on. Totally dead. Exchanged it. The second Didj was easier to open compartment to install batteries and turned on immediately. Reommend you take it back.

If the unit is frozen the first thing I would recommend is removing the batteries and see if its ok when you reinsert them.

You have to make sure that your Cartridges is clean. Try to vacum of blow both of the cartridge hole and also the place where you put the cartridge, Sometime very small tiny dirt will makes that the cartridge cannot be recognise by the console.
Instead of 1 starter game and a few demo game that you get from Leapfrog
Connect, you can also get more downloadable games for your Leapster 2.
