It is possible that the DVDs that you are playing are in need of a player on a different region. If that is the case tehn you have to unlock the region code for your player. If the DVDs were playing before that means that your lens is most likely dirty and you should try some lens cleaning solutions.

My new dvd dvx492h does not work properly: Actually it loads the DVDs without problem but then each 5 to 10 seconds it's like it slow down the reading for 3 seconds. Do you have an idea about this problem?

on your dvd remote look for the audio button above the red button, go through the different options and move off eng1 and move onto one of the other english languages. worked for me, hope this helps

go to the website site and see if a newer firmware is available for your player.If your player cannot connect to the internet you will be instructed to burn the utility file along with the updated firmware file from your computer.The instructions should be included at the web site.When you burn the disc you then load the disc into your player and it will update it .If your player can connect to the internet then run a line from your router or hub to the player select from the menu list on your player that should say update firmware.It will automatically log on to lg and download a newer version of the firmware.If you have the newest it will tell you no newer version available.Hope that helps
