My girlfriend has a Denon DP-29F turntable that sounds terrible when it plays. There is a lot of static and distortion when it plays. It seems to be worse in the right speaker than the left and at the higher or lower the pitch is. Don't think it's the speakers or the receiver cause the radio plays fine. We replaced the needle and the problem persists. The receiver is an Insignia and brand new with proper phono inputs/ground. Any help or suggestions?
Either you haven't earthed the deck to the amp, on the proper ground screw, or your head shell wires are touching.
if the cartage(the thing the needle slots into) unscrews from the tone-arm, try unscrewing it,then putting back on, nice & tight....
if it still does it then it's your RCA leads that go from the deck to the amp(phono cables).
normally you would wire a deck/decks to a mixer first, then from the master out on the mixer to the AUX IN on the amp.

There are some gears which move back and forth under the turntable which link to the plated Sometimes they just get stuck, sometimes just reseting them will resolve the issue. Sometimes you need to lubricate them since they a just getting stiff (only lubricate the center of the gears by the shaft they set on) It is rare that any parts are actually broken PS Protect the needle while attempting to service the unit Rob

Fasten the ground to one of the metal screws that hold the metal(?) cover on.You want to connect it to the metal frame of Onkyo.
