Question about LG LB1200ER Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Window air conditioner keeps kicking off.

My air conditioner is only 10 months old. The whole face of the air conditioner froze about 1/2" thick. I let it unthaw and ever since then, the built in GFI keeps kicking it off and it won't run for very long. My filter is not dirty, and I checked the inside of it and it appeared to be pretty clean. Would appreciate any suggestions you have, thanks for your time!

My Ac window unit keeps freezing up

Either the evaporator (front coil) is clogged with dirt, or you need some refrigerant. If refrigerant is very low, only one corner of the evaporator will get cold. So cold in fact that it will freeze. Then no more air can pass through that section of the evaporator, and the refrigeration will take place a little past that point. That keeps repeating itself until the whole evaporator is froze up. Look at the evaporator when you first turn on the air conditioner and "feel" the evaporator with your hands. The cooling should take place evenly from top to bottom, left to right.

Can I install the unit in the window sideways?

Not really unless you can divertthe hot air from the back side to the outside and and the cool air and intake to the inside, you could do it with some clear tape and some plastic sheeting , but better to build a frame to hold it outside facing in two L brackets then tape it up with some thick plastic.

LG AC compressor problem

Compressor may be locking up. Run capacitor may be weak or loose wire. Sounds like major voltage drop off as unit head pressure increases.

When turned on, the unit sounds like it will start then turns off within a minute.

Presently according to my information there is no recalls for Fedders products at this time for this model type.
