Question about Toshiba 51H83 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Color issues We have had our Toshiba projection TV for about 4 years now and the color seems to be getting darker and darker as the days go by. We have tried the color convergence and also the touch focus as well but it is not helping any. I was told by someone that you needed to clean the lamps in back of the protective screen. We tried to get the screen off but could not. I just need help to fix my televsion!

I would first try to go into the tv through the front at the bottom behind the speaker grille. It will just pop off but it will seem tough like your gonna break it. Under ther you will find a black wood piece held by a several 1/4" screws. remove that. inside you will see 3 glass tubes extending downward. Each will have a circuit board attached to the bottom. With the TV unplugged remove each of these boards. They will slide downward and be gentle the tubes can be fragile. also the boards may have plastic rings extending upwards around the tubes securing them, if so you may have to loosen that screw to slide the boards off the tubes. After you remove them put them back and see if it is better

I have a Sony Grand Wega KF-60WE610 television. It now seems that the picture is darker than it used to be. I can still watch a show, but many people who have seen my television comment on the poor...

I'm sorry that the pictures on the TV screen is black. Based on the information you have provided, it appears that the issue is with the Lamp itself. The lamp of the TV may have to be replaced within two to three years depends upon the amount of usage.
If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unsual or the LAMP indicator on the front of the LCD projection TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp.
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require further assistance in replacing the lamp of the TV.

The picture seems to be getting darker. Its not as bright and sharp as it used to be. Its about 9 years old but has not been used very much. Might it need a new bulb or something? 57HX81 Proj TV Color...

simple: remove back cover and locate the three large black lens you will see top and dead center, clean them with either a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner----they are the light source for your picture and should be cleaned once a year---as they get dusty the picture gets darker and duller looking.\\

hi..first check it out the brightness. It is available in the
menu button, available on the top of the tv.If it still doesnt
work Projection TVs have a high intensity lamp as the light
source. They wear out and gradually get dim.You probably
need to replace it.
check it out..

Yellow hue

1)Please verify your model # from back of set......

2)Reduce the color to minimum or tune in a black & white chan.
you should see gray, not yellow hue

3)Remove lower front grill cover & access panel.....locate the
focus / screen control block...turn blue screen control slightly
CW......red,green and blue must mix to equal gray

4) reset color to normal level.......reassemble

Toshiba 65hx81 65" Rear Projection tv. black & white color/green

Yep, your problem is a relatively easy one to repair if you know how to solder. You better repair it before it blows the fuse though. There are two capacitors in the main power supply that are coming loose and need to be re soldered. There is a Toshiba service bulletin about it. They are marked C809 and C810 on the main power supply board. Good Luck

Picture seems to be alot darker than before. toshiba 62hm95

I just replaced a lamp in a Sony LCD projection that was just over a year old and it was bad. It was a VERY dim picture. You have a DLP but, in either case a dim or dark picture is almost always caused by the lamp.
