Question about Canon PowerShot A70 Digital Camera
When i connect the camera to the PC, a window pops up and it cannot find a program to launch... also, there is no disk drive with the pix. i used to be able to do this. HELP!
I had the same problem: the camera just doesn't appear in the Computer resources althought it should work like any USB disk. I have this problem only on windows 2000, while on a newer PC i have Windows XP and everything works just fine. I was finally able to solve the problem downloading the getcanon! application. This small software (DL file is less than 2MB) can recognize several Canon cameras, connect and download pictures eventually sorting them into folders by date, and finally delete pictures from the camera. Basically, anything i could have desired. Of course you still need some other software to view/modify pictures.

The popup would be the windows wizard wanting to assist with downloading image files. There's 2 popups one is the wizard and you'll click on transfer images & it walks you step by step to download the images. The other one is just a one click option & you can copy the images files to your computer. But since those options don't seem to work for you - one solution would be to click on "my computer" and you'll either find your camera or memory card listed along side your computers C drive. If you're downloading images from the camera - it needs to be hooked up via the cable + the camera probably needs to be turned on. Some cameras also have a setting or button to turn in order to download the images.
