Re: DVD screen is black
If you boot your PC and your getting sound that is a good thing. Sounds like your backlight is blown. Try this! Hook an external Monitor of any sort up to your laptop to see if you can see your PC when it boots up with an image on the external screen. Your Backlight is more than likely blown. Hope this helps! These can be repaired!
Its a problem with the video output...
Just look for button like i/p, n/p, reset, p-scan, which changes video output from NTSC to PAL or PAL NTSC which would be supported by your TV....

Hello,
I've found this article on creating DVDs with nero 7. It has pictures along with the descriptions. Also, it has instructions for configuring the right settings for your dvd-->
Did it used to work? If it did then I would say it may be. If it is new, the Durabrand DVD players default to the component video out (RCA jack). If it is hooked up with an S-Video cable you will need to connect it with the RCA cable and then go to the settings and change the signal out to S-Video and then reconnect it with the S-Video cable. Also make sure that the correct video source is selected on the TV.
1. Turn on the DVD player.
2. Press "Setup"
3. Go to "Preferences".
4. Press "Play"
5. Enter 2-5-1-5-3-5 (251535 in continuous sequence of keys on the remote) Nothing will show on the screen.
6. Press "Left" then press "Down"
The current region code will be displayed.
7. Press "0" for region free.
I have just done this on mine and it worked perfectly.
There is a small switch on the right side where all the audio/video ports are. If that switch is forward in the "video-out" mode, the onboard (TFT) screen is shut off. Move the switch back to "TFT" mode. Hope this helps.
This has happened on my player, I think I closed the lid and then switched a switch on the side or front that is related to screen orientation either up or down and wide or full screen. Then I reopened the player and it was right side up. Hope this helps.

There is a switch on the right side of the unit labelled Video Out (switch facing front of unit) or TFT On (switch facing rear of unit). First make sure that the switch is on TFT on. If it is then switch to Video out and then back to TFT On. This made our screen starting displaying again when it was black.
