SOURCE: samsonite attache case lock

I just used the following solution successfully...
thanx to whomever posted it.

Email from Samsonite in response to my plea for help:
Dear Sir/Madam:
The following are the lock picking instructions you requested from Samsonite Consumer Relations.
1. Position the luggage so that the numbers on the wheel are
right-side-up as they face you and set all three wheels to “0′.
2. Starting with the wheel on the left, to the right of the wheel,
look into the narrow space between the right side of the wheel and
the body of the lock. Look down into the shaft. (If you have a
safety pin, straight pin, or thin nail file, place that in the
narrow space.)
3. While looking down into the shaft, rotate the wheel slowly. You
are looking for an indentation (a square notch). When you find
the indentation, stop and write the number down. (If you are using
a tool, the tool will fall into the indentation.)
4. Follow the process for the remaining two wheels.
5. Try to open the piece of luggage.
6. If the luggage still will not open, please try the following:
a) If the number on the wheel is over 5, subtract 5 from the
number showing. For example, if the number showing is 8 turn
the wheel to 3 because 8-5=3.
b) If the number is under 5, add 5 to the number showing. For
example if the number showing is 2 turn the wheel to 7
because 2+5=7. The numbers showing on the wheels will be
your combination.
If you still have a problem with the combination lock, contact the nearest authorized repair center to your zip code for repair assistance. Our warranty and repair information can be viewed at http://www.samsonite.com under the heading “Customer Service Repair Centers” for your reference.
We appreciate your loyalty and will continue to design products that are reliable business or travel companions.

SOURCE: My Samsonite suitecase is open, I forgort my lock

Hi,

look behind the lock
there is a tiny part (like a stick shift) sticking out of a square about 1 cm across
move it to the diagonally opposite side
reset code
return shift to old position
For those without the little stick shift part, try this: With the case open, and the current combo in place, hold down the shackle (the little grey or black button beside the combination numbers).

While holding this shackle down, rotate the numbers to the number YOU WILL REMEMBER.
(Holding the shackle down allows the numbers to tumble without moving the divots.)

Let go of the shackle -these numbers are now associated with the divots.

Now your combination should be set to the number you wish.

Hope this helps,

Karlos

SOURCE: I do not know the combination of my samsonite hard case suitcase

I tried working through the series of possible numbers and at the same time gently pressing the lower part of the lock to see if it would open. After a while I used a claw hammer which I gently inserted the claw beneath the lower portion of the lock and again gently prised it and at first go the lock opened and no damage done that I can see. I have not reset the lock yet.

I can't find the reset button on the samsonite b-lite luggage locks. The diagram has arrow pointing to the bottom left of the first number but there is no button there -?

Instead of looking for a button, look for a small hole where you can insert something small and thin to push the internal button to reset.

How to unlock suitcase

Pain in the *** but these are simple three tumbler locks. I am assuming it is what you have. If you start at 000 and go up in increments of 1 you can probably get this in about an hour. Other than that a screwdriver will break it open if you pry in at the locking mechanism.

Please tell me how to set teh lock code for my samsonite silhouette 11 HS....no instructions were included! help!!

Sure... here're the instructions - open the suitcase, then open the zipper in the modesty pouch (it is mounted on the backside of the suitcase, along its entire length), and then from in there, take out the plastic packet. In the plastic packet are labels, warranty information, AND voila - the instructions to set the combination lock... :-)

I would tell you here too:
1. Open the suitcase

2. Look at the inside back of the lock - you would see a red color tab, and two markings - A

What follows are Samsonite's own instructions. Note that they don't work on the new Samsonite CURV though, but you didn't say which case you have:-

Suitcase number locked combination forgotten

f'lite Samsonite combination lost and stuck locked:
I removed the lock unfastening the 2 torx screws from the case.
Next I removed the pin that holds the RED tab thingy in place and the spring ( all this does is pushthe assembly to the right when a number is moved..... Take a picture of this before you dissassemble it. push it allthe way through..if you have fat fingers you are screwed. Anyway, remove the red thingy, and then carefully lift the remaining plate out taking note of the orientation.

First of all: the solution is aligning the cogs to 0-0-0 like from the factory. This is easy to do. when you remove the plate above , carefully do so without launching the dials and the spring into space....no matter.

Look at the bottom of the plate and notice there is a notch that will correspond to the cogs still in place on the lock assembly that should still be in place.

The cogs sit on a spring that sit on the backside of the dials with the numbers you can see when locking the suitcase.

Here is the meat:

1. with your finger or something turn the cogs until the black dot aligns outmost.
2 align the cogs so that notch will correspond to the orientation on the plate you just looked at. (that's it)!
Carefully replace the plate with finger pressure and actuate the latch-it should be unlocked and at the 0-0-0 position. If not repeat 1 and 2.

Push the pin through again, through the red thingy and the spring. BAMMM! you just saved your self a zillion dollars...still having trouble...mail this to me and for $15. I fix it for yaz....
