Everything on my compaq presario cq50-215nr laptop got really big after i accidentally hit a couple of buttons on the keyboard and i dont know what i hit. how do i make them go back to normal size

On the Start menu:

  • Point to All Programs.
  • Point to Accessories.
  • Point to Accessibility.
  • Select Accessibility Wizard.
The rest is a windows wizard that will walk you through how to get things back to normal.

Choose Screen Resolution For higher legibility of documents on screen, you can adjust the screen resolution of your monitor (for monitors that support more than one screen resolution option). The higher the number of pixels, the more information you can display on your screen and the smaller items appear. Lower screen resolution makes items appear larger and can benefit people with vision impairments. This procedure tells you how to adjust screen resolution through Display Properties in Control Panel.
Mouse actions Keyboard actions 1 On the Start menu:

  • Select Control Panel
Display the Start menu by pressing CTRL+ESC (or the Windows logo key everything on my compaq presario - winkey.gif).
  • Select Control Panel by pressing C.
2 In Control Panel:
  • Be sure you are in Classic View (all Control Panel icons are showing).
  • If not, under Control Panel in the left pane, select Switch to Classic View.
  • Select Display.
In Control Panel:
  • Be sure you are in Classic View (all Control Panel icons are showing).
  • If not, under Control Panel in the left pane, select Switch to Classic View by pressing TAB.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Press the RIGHT ARROW key, and then the LEFT ARROW key to select Display.
  • Press ENTER.
3 In the Display Properties dialog box:
  • Select the Settings tab.
In the Display Properties dialog box:
  • Move to the Settings tab by pressing CTRL+TAB.
4 On the Settings tab, under Screen Resolution:
  • Select a screen resolution value by moving the slider arrow.
  • Select OK.
On the Settings tab:
  • Move to the Screen resolution slider by pressing ALT+S.
  • Choose a screen resolution value by pressing the RIGHT ARROW or LEFT ARROW key.
  • Press ENTER.
5 To close Control Panel:
  • Select the Close button.
To close Control Panel:
  • Press ALT+F, C.

How do I disable the wireless key on Compaq Presario CQ57 keyboard ?
We have several terminals with keyboards that are used by different people during the course of the day. We had a similar problem with the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys. Solution(s): Straighten out a paper clip and make a quarter inch hook at one end. Insert the hook under the offending key(s) and pop it up. You can easily replace the key should there ever be a need. No ham, no foul.

Computer freezes right after start up
Try to turn off the laptop. Remove the cables and battery on it , press and hold the power button for 8 secs. Then reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop. Turn it on, then check if the pc freezes up. If it is, check if your keyboard has lights on it. If there is no lights, need to call compaq to replace the motherboard. If keyboard has lights and you dont know how to remove the parts inside your laptop, you still call compaq to replace the power supply or the video card of your laptop.

Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX. Doesn't start
The laptop really only needs a motherboard and the switch located above your keyboard to turn on, of course powers required, My point being that it is more then likely your motherboard is fried or if theres any visible water damage, the switch above the keyboard works off a ribbon connect which has a pretty slim chance of becoming disconnected but you could check. If your the lucky guy you may just have a faulty charger or the dc input may have failed. Hope this helps

I replaced the keyboard on the Compaq Presario 2200 notebook (it was missing the G key) with a new keyboard & everything went fine. A couple days later, it started making random key strokes and the ]...
take the keyboard out again and reinstall it..make shure you have the ribon cable in squarly and make shure the clamp is tight and holdng it in place.

Screen stuck in hibernating mode compaq laptop with windows vista
Disconnect the Laptop from Power, remove the battery, Hold the power button for 6-10 seconds.
Restart the machine by connecting the power and battery, Hit the Esc key while windows is loading

Compaq Presario F700 Laptop power up issue
Remove your cpu/gpu heatsink, apply a ermal bonding, this will prevent shut off because of cpu/gpu overheating(chipset detects temperature faulty in the firsts seconds of operating your laptop), if this didnt resolve your problem, naybe and issue with your Mobo.

Compaq presario f700 enter key will not work and while typing it skips around
I have a laptop where the enter button and delete button dont function(and I know why cos my brothers mrs soft cow spilt wine over the keyboard) anyway it dont bother me much cos I use the mouse for most things ; but if I need to have use of enter or delete I either plug in an external keyboard or I use the on screen keyboard. (start...all programs....accessories...accessability)
you can also get a roll up keypad,usb.last option you'll have to go ebay for keyboard

Hi Tom,

Nice of you to do a direct "Ask Me"

Initially, the model is one I am not familiar with. But, a Compaq is a Compaq and a laptop is a laptop. Based on your description:
an IRQ and/or a hardware problem.

You could try (temporarily): removing the battery and using the laptop on AC adapter/charger only; removing any or all of the add-on cards; switching/removing any of the memories; removing connector of built-in touchpad and/or removing FDD/CD.

On all of the above, I would suspect either the battery or the touchpad more.

Incidentally, may I inquire where locally were you able to acquire the keyboards. I have need for two (2), both for Compaq Presario 2100s.
