Basically the Dell laptop has worked perfectly up until i decided to get a mobile Data card, to allow me to work on the move.
Every time i try to make a connection the laptop crashes after aprox 10 - 12 seconds.
I've had the Data Card changed in case it was that which was causing the problem, but no difference.
The Data Card is a Sony ericson model, which works perfectly on one of my friends Toshiba Laptop, even when i use my Data Card on their laptop.
Can anybody suggest what is wrong and how i can fix it?

Re: Dell Inspiron 6000
Here's a couple of suggestions:
1.) You can try getting thel latest drivers for our card from sony ericsson and installing it.(Look under support)
2.) Try updating your operating system (via Windows Update) with the latest service packs & hotfixes.
The problem you have seems to be software and getting the most updated sofware all around would be the best way to go!
In rare cases these problems are't remedied by by updating the driver and windows, if the problem persists, post back with the the STOP Error code and any other errors you recieve, and your operating system that you are using!

Since you have already replaced the battery and the laptop works with
the AC charger, then probably the charge circuit in the system board (mother board) is bad. I have rarely seen an AC charger that will power the laptop but not charge the battery. 99% of the time, if it is not the battery, it is the system board.
i found the sound driver that works on DELL INSPIRON 6000
It also works on:
Inspiron- 6000, 93000, 9200, 2200, 1200, XPS Gen 2
Latitude- D610, D810, 110L, D510, D410, X1
Precision- M20, M70
So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.
On ac power when you hit the power button, if there are no lights, it could be the power supply. If there are lights, try starting it without the battery, ac only. If there are lights and it still doesn't start after removing the battery, try a different memory chip. On Dell machines the battery can acquire a dead short causing it to not start. Also if the memory chip/chips have gone out it will cause it not to start. If it still will not start after these three it's a motherboard problem and will most likely have to be replaced.
