Black Box My Tv screen all of a sudden posted a black box across the lower middle of the screen. From the manual, I assumed this is a captioning issue and attempted to follow the steps to turn off captioning (of course I never turned it on, but whatever). This is not a cable issue, because the same problem occurs whether the input is set to the DVD, or to other inputs (Xbox). When I hit the menu button, the menu options appear, but I have no control over the cursor or the selector. All it allows me to do is to select the presently lit feature (picture quality and settings) and modify that. When the menu is closed, the image of the tv is whole for about a second, then the black box appears again. Perhaps on a related issue, for a few months now I have noticed that the captioning will turn on, and gibberish will begin to appear at the bottom of the screen. I've been able to easily get rid of that just by turning on the menu and off again with minimal annoyance. My guess is that the problem is with the operating system, or whatever controls the functions of the television, but I have no knowledge of televisions, so I am just guessing.
