My vcr lcd reads LOCK now and I can't access any menu functions

I have a PROSCAN PSVR73 VCR plus gold, VHS HQ that worked fine until I got cable the other day and tried to do the set up on the VCR....it said it would take hours and when the LCD read out of DOWN LOAD stopped blinking it would be finished, so I did it overnight. In the morning the LCD read Timmer and taped the program I had set a long time ago, but after taping it wouldn't let me eject the tape or turn the timmer off.... I unplugged it for ten minutes and plugged it back in...now the LCD reads LOCK with dashes where the clock read out use to be and I can't get into the menu to change anything. I left it unpluged last night, but I got the same LOCK display today.... I'm at a total loss with no vcr manual. Does anyone out there know how to get out of this fix? :o Dee

My Proscan PSVR74 turns on, says "Hello" and immediately goes to Stop and turns itself off. Is there any hope for this machine?

To unlock the feature and turn on the VCR: Press and hold either the remote's ON/OFF or VCR1 button.

Doesn't give me the option to change the channel when timer recording

If you are recording something on the VCR, it won't let you change the channel. If not, you need to make sure the RC is set to the vcr in question (mine has VCR1 and VCR2)

You can set it up the way I've done for years...put cable line into VCR first, the VCR to TV..you then can watch and record 2 separate channels.

Proscan vcr plus gold stuck in lock

I just had the same problem and found a solution on the internet that worked. Hopefully you still have the VCR's remote control. Press and hold either the on/off, VCR1 or VCR2 button on the remote. I pressed the VCR1 button and held it for about 5-7 seconds. It released the lock and worked fine afterwards. The lock is some kind of childlock devise.

Can't see menu to programme VCR

Try unpluging the unit from the wall for about 5 minutes then plug back in and turn it on,this will reset the brain and go back to normal.
