Hooking it up to the computer

I had to disconnect everything when my hard drive crashed. Now I'm not sure how to hook it back up. My computer recognizes the modem, but not the router.

SOURCE: hookup with Vonage device

I am going to attempt to give you a solution here. But you must understand a few things before I begin.

First, I would like to clarify that if you have Time Warner internet service, you are on Cable Internet. Not DSL. (This makes a world of difference when it comes to using a router.)

Secondly, you did not specify model numbers of your devices. Therefore I am assuming that you are using the following devices:

If this is not the correct equipment, continue to follow the instructions but be dynamic and adapt my instructions to the equipment you have. It should be similar enough that you shouldn't have any problem easily doing this.

This instruction set is going to begin from a point that is assuming that we're installing all of this equipment from the standpoint of a completely new installation. From the ground up.

Let's begin.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UNPLUG AND POWER DOWN ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT INCLUDING THE CABLE MODEM, ROUTER, PC AND VONAGE BOX. Do not power on any of the devices until instructed to do so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.) Connect your cable modem to the cable from the wall.

2.) Find the ethernet port on your cable modem. Connect the blue ethernet (CAT5) cable to the ethernet port.

3.) Plug the other end of the blue ethernet cable into the "Internet" port of the router. (Older routers used to also call this a "WAN" port.) It is the only port that is seperated from the rest of them.

4.) Connect another ethernet cable to port 1 of the router.

5.) Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the network port of your PC.

6.) Connect yet another ethernet cable to port 2 of the router.

7.) Connect the other end of this ethernet cable to the ethernet port of the Vonage box.

8.) Plug in the power adapter of the cable modem. Wait 1 minute for the cable modem to acquire it's signal and set up the connection to Time Warner.

9.) Plug in the power adapter of the Linksys router. It should only take 15-20 seconds to set itself up. (If you have made any configurations to the router prior to this, I recommend pressing and holding the RESET button for at least 10 seconds to give you a fresh configuration state to start with.)

10.) Plug in the power adapter to the Linksys PAP2 VOIP Phone Adapter.

11.) Power on your PC. You should have an internet connection with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You see... As I read the configuration you described, I don't think that you're using a PAP2 phone adapter. You said that you connected the "vonage device" to both your modem and your PC. This is not possible with the PAP2 adapter as it only has ONE ethernet port.

I am led to believe that you are actually using the Linksys WRTP54G which is essentially the same thing as the WRT54G, but with Vonage support built-in.

If that is the case, then you will not need to use the WRT54G router. Instead, follow the instructions that I gave you assuming that the router and the phone device are combined into one device. (The ports will still be labeled the same.)

Download the installation guide for the WRTP54G from the product page link I just gave you. You'll find the link to the User Guide on the right-side panel. This will make everything clearer for you if you do indeed have that router instead of the PAP2 phone adapter.

If you continue to be confused, please let me know. DO NOT just give me a poor rating without asking more questions. I am here to help you solve your issue. Not have my rating decreased just because someone is too confused or lazy to ask more questions.

I'm happy to help you. :)

Good luck and let me know what the outcome is. (And please be sure to list your exact model numbers in the future!)

SOURCE: I was given a linksys wireless-g model wrk54g

was the router used by previous users? or did you buy it? if it was used then it was probably configured for different ISP. You don't need any CD. Just connect to the router via your browser (probably http://192.168.1.1) and adjust settings in WAN section.

SOURCE: I have a cable connection to the internet and when I hook up the

1. Disconnect the cable from your cable modem and connect it to one of the four on the back of the wireless router.
2 Connect a cable from the back of the cable modem to the LAN port on the wireless router.

3. disconnect the power on the cable modem for about 30 seconds.

4. reconnect the power to the cable modem and wait until the unit boots completely.
all but the activity light should be on.

5 power up the router and wait a few moments.

You should now have access on your computer that you have connected to the router. verify this by going to a web page.

6. on the laptop, open the control panel and then the network connections control panel (this assumes we are working with windows).

7. Highlight the wireless adapter by clicking on it once.

8. To the right of the icon will be a list of links. (assuming windows XP). click the one that says "view available wireless networks". Your router should be in the list. If so, highlight it and click connect at the bottom of the window.

Did this resolve your issue?

What is the connection plug from Fujitsu mht2080ah to computer?

You can install the hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter case.
Then you can connect it to the USB port on your computer. The computer will see this as an external storage device, then you can copy the files off this hard disk to your computer.
By inserting the hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter you can deleted unwanted files off the hard drive and use it for backups and data transfer from one computer to another computer.

I have a disk crash on an ASUS computer, 3 years old. The Disk is a SATA. How can I get my machine to boot ?

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

What would cause engine stall when parked or idle with ac on?

I take it that you recently had the battery disconnected or replaced? If so, easy $4 fix for a bottle of sensor safe throttle body cleaner. It's your dirty throttle body which is very common for our trucks. Your computer learned some bad habits, so when you hooked the battery back up, it thought the throttle body was functioning properly.

Unhook the battery again. Take the plastic resonator off the top of the engine. Remove the hoses and unhook the electrical connectors. Unbolt the throttle body (4 bolts), carefull, don't let them fall down by the intake, hard to find, so keep a magnet near by (been there done that). Remove the electrical connector from the throttle body. Need the spray bottle of cleaner ( I like Seafoam spray) and drench everything. Can use a toothbrush for some elbow grease, take your time and make sure it's nice and shiny. Hook everything back up, then hook your battery back up. Drive around for 20 minutes or so with all accessories off so the computer can re-learn a properly functioning throttle body. This will fix your problem and should take 30 to 60 minutes to do yourself. Look forward to better gas mileage and better throttle response when clean. Throttle body should be cleaned at least once a year, because we don't have a traditional PCV valve, so our TB tends to gum up fast.

How to retrieve a file ? (shift delete)

If your motherboard or computer has crashed and you need to retrieve data you can remove the hard drive and hook it up to a portable USB hard drive adapter. Available most computer stores. Set the hard drive to Primary if it is ATA. Hook it up to the hard drive and plug the USB into a working computer. Open "MY Computer" and you will see the new drive on the list. You can now access the files on the drive just they were on a floppy or CD.

When i start my labtops it says BOOTMGR is missing and it says to restart my computer but when I do it says the same thing

Sounds like your hard drive crashed.

I would find someone to take out your hard drive and hook it to another PC via Sata/ATA to USA cable and run a check disk. It should fix your problem and you will still have everything.

Desktop PC crashing all at least once every session

This problem I had multiple times. The way I solved this was by reinstalling the O.S on my computer. Yes, you will have to lose everything, but if you want to use that computer again that's what should be done. However, there is a way to retain all your files. if you go out and buy a Hard Drive Case, and extract your internal Hard Drive from your Computer, You can hook up that hard Drive to your case and upload all your files onto another computer. A Case for your hard drive costs roughly 15-120$, depending on how fancy of a case you want.

Bad hard drive back up and replace on evesham ebox

The only thing I can think of is you might hook up the drive as "slave" drive on a working computer and see if it will operate long enough to retrieve your data. But if the drive is dead you may have lost everything that was on it. There are services that do data recovery on dead hard drives but I'm sure it is expensive to have this done. This is why I always back up everything I do to a different device while I am working.
