Troubleshoot the issue and see if we can get it working properly:
Check the Camera Mode:
Make sure the camera is not in Handheld mode. If it is, switch it to Auto mode. The camera won't take pictures if the SD card is in Protect mode.
Review Settings:
Confirm that the camera is powered on.
Check if it's set to take photographs when it detects motion or if it's in time-lapse mode.
Perform an IR Filter Reset:
Take your camera into a completely dark room.
Walk or wave in front of the camera to trigger it to take a picture.
Turn on the lights and trigger the camera to take another picture.
Repeat this process 6 to 8 times. This will reset the IR filter, and better photos should be on the way.
Check the Viewing Screen:
Moultrie game cameras have a built-in viewing screen. Ensure that the screen is functioning properly.
If the display screen continues to show "snap" without capturing images or videos, consider contacting Moultrie customer support for further assistance.
You can buy a new display from Moultree for about $18, install it yourself and it might last a month or 2. Best thing is to go buy a real camera from somebody who want's your return business.
If the camera is out of warranty, you have two options. The first is to send the camera to us for repair. There is no charge for the repair and we will cover the return shipping. This repair may take six-eight weeks. We will put a new display in it and warranty the display only for 12 months. The second option is for us to send you the part along with instructions on making the repair yourself (Hotlink to Display Instructions). If you choose to make the repair yourself, IT WILL BE AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO WORK ON YOUR CAMERA AFTER YOU HAVE OPENED IT UP. There is no charge for the part. If you would like us to send it to you, email us or call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-653-3334.
I had the same issue with my L-20, replaced it with a new camera, same model, and the same condition started. Solution: turn off, remove card, remove batteries, wait 1 minute...,install battery and turn on,in auto mode should read no card, insert sd card. If this happens, replace card with a different one. Helped me on the spot.
