HP Solution center for C6180 All-In-One opens but appears blank

Totally frustrated! Have until now assumed that problems with the Solution Center are the same as the problems I've read people are having with the 'HP Director' - but perhaps this isn't the case. I had IE7 and was using this with Windows XP. Whilst I could use my C6180 OK, I could not operate it via the HP Solution Center, as this appeared blank every time I opened it.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the HP software to no effect and have upgraded my IE7 to IE8 - still no joy!

Can anyone offer any advice ?

Thanks in advance,
Mel.

Same problem here. Some have updated adobe flash and found that this fixed the problem. Mine still does not work. I have the same printer C6180 and everything works like print and scan but the software that came with it is messed up. The HP Solution Center Software opens up and the icons shows up as a square with a red x inside of it. Just like you would see on a web page that has a missing graphic. The background had previously been blue. Now it is red. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times but can not get their software to work.

Run HP solution center as administrator. This is a temporary fix; try upgrading or reinstalling for a proper solution.

H/P C6180 black not printing

Had the same problem for weeks. Had to go thru all three levels of print head cleaning in the HP Toolbox menu to get black to work again. The head cleaning option on the printer itself was insufficient. Unless you've already gone thru all three cleaning levels this may be worth a try.

I walked thru the steps via the HP website FAQs for the 6180. Basically: Open the HP Solution Center, select Settings->Print Settings->Printer Toolbox, then click Clean the Printheads. After the first cleaning you'll be asked if the test page printed OK (mine didn't), click the Intermediate Cleaning box. You'll be asked again if the test page printed OK (mine did, but an independent MSWord print test was still streaky), click the clean again (sorry, don't remember what this one was called) for the third and deepest clean.

This last one worked for me, now it's back to normal printing. From what the HP website says I'm guessing that my black print head was dried up. That's a reasonable explanation for my situation, we had let the black sit dormant for a couple of weeks after the black cartridge ran out before we tried to install a replacement.

Hope this helps, sure was frustrating for me. Good luck.

I understand that you want to print only in black color. Open HP Solution Center and then enable print in grayscale option and click OK and then try to print.

HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One Is printing All Documnets Faded Colors

Try to clean your printheads or check the level of your inks, maybe you are low on inks. Operating system does not affect any printing outputs as I know. Check your inks also coz HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. If ink cartridges have been refilled, try replacing them with genuine HP ink cartridges.
If the print defect is minor, it might be caused by reserve mode operation. When the printer runs out of some colors, it can continue printing using remaining inks, but print quality may be affected. If cyan, magenta, or yellow is out, the printer can print only in grayscale.
Replace any empty print cartridges. To check ink levels, follow the steps below.
  1. Press the Setup button.
  2. Press the down arrow button until Tools is highlighted.
  3. Press OK .
  4. The Display Ink Gauge selection should be highlighted. Press OK and the ink gauge will display.
OR try calibrate the color:
  1. Open the printer Toolbox :
  • Open HP Solution Center (click Start , then All Programs , then HP , then HP Solution Center ).
  • If you have more than one printer installed, make sure to select the correct printer tab in HP Solution Center .
  • Click Settings .
  • Click Print Settings .
  • Click Printer Toolbox .
2. On the Device Services tab, click Calibrate Color , then follow the onscreen instructions. The procedure takes about two minutes and requires two sheets of paper.
If the steps above did not help, clean the print head.
  1. Open the All-in-One Toolbox :
    1. Open HP Solution Center (click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center ).
    2. If you have more than one All-in-One installed, make sure to select the correct All-in-One tab in HP Solution Center .
    3. Click Settings .
    4. Click Print Settings .
    5. Click Printer Toolbox .
  2. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , and then follow the onscreen instructions. Three levels of cleaning are available.
Please let me know if these steps helped you or not. Thanks
