That sounds like a Tcon board issue. You can get the Tcon board from www.tvrepairworld.com

SOURCE: picture is slightly too large for our sanyo DP42848

This is a problem with the aspect ratio setting. Usually found in the setup section. You can use your owners manual to locate the setup section and find the procedure for changing the aspect ratio settings. You should be able to do with the remote control or the buttons on the television. You can call the Sanyo customer support at this telephone number. 1-800-877-5032. Give them the model number of your television and they will be able to help you . I hope this information has helped you with your problem.

SOURCE: dp42848 when first turned on

The T-con board in your tv is the board that transforms the data coming from the image processor in a form that can be displayed by the LCD screen. In your case it is failing - a chip has started to detach from the board because it was badly soldered at the manufacturing stage. When the tv heats the solder points dilate and allow a partial contact. Since this cannot be fixed - you can't resolder the chip - the entire board will have to be replaced. This is going to cost you around $250, including the labor of the repairman.

SOURCE: 2 year old Sanyo DP42848

You may have a defective inverter. The inverter provides the back lighting you need to see video. There is good chance the starting resistors have changed values. It would be best to replace the inverter in your case. I would have to have a schematic to find the bad resistors. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

SOURCE: I have a sanyo LCD

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens have a light behind the display that shines through the screen so that you can see the picture. If you can see picture dimly on the half that is not backlit, it sounds like half of the backlight is not working. For this you will need tecnical assistance. H

Samsung pn51d440a5d thin black horizontal lines across complete screen,2 to 3 inches apart, replaced y sustain and y buffer pcb

These lines a are technically called as 'vertical retrace' lines. There will be thin white horizontal lines, at about 1" apart, all around the screen. Even though, you've decreased the brightness and contrast to its minimum, these line will be there. There are many reasons for this fault. If the screen voltage is more than normal, or the supply voltage to video output transistors are less than normal [due to faulty smoothing capacitor], this fault can occur. If you're sound in electronics, check this link. It has details about how to check for this fault. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I have one side of my tv is black and look like you have a negative picture

LCD it is likely an inverter board--one drives left and one drives right side of screen--a few combine both into a single board.

Sanyo DP42848 screen goes blank after few seconds have replaced main board both converter boards power supply has all voltages screen showes connect all cables or channel up or down when first turn on then...

I had the same thing happen to a DP42848 I'm repairing but I could smell ozone on the left side so I didn't replace anything. I just disassembled the screen and found four flouresent tubes not working! I exchanged them to be sure it was the tubes and it was.New screen is out of the question. I am trying to find a broken used LCD screen somewhere and rob the tubes from it as they just snap in and that might not happen so goodbye tv!

I have a sanyo LCD 46 inch tv the model number is DP42848 and the left side of the screen is black when it is on. Even when left on for a while it does not clear up. we are still able to see what is behind...

It could be the video processor board (T-connector board) or its ribbon cables. This board has two ribbon cable that supply each of the two circuit boards for the LCD glass. One for the left and one for the right. If one of these cables has become disconnected, then only one half of the screen will work. To check the cables, you must remove the back of the TV. The video processor board is under a metal cover. Remove the 4 screws to expose the board. Check the one input and two output cables to be sure they are properly seated. If one side of the screen remains dark, the problem may be in the video processor board itself. You can probably get one on ebay. Otherwise the problem will be in the LCD glass circuits and it can not be fixed.

More than likely your control board. Available at www.partstore.com Cost could be between $130 and $200. Not that complicated to install if you can use a screwdriver and are careful. Let me know how this works out.

Screen split with black bar through center, top of picture shows in bottom

It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
