I was pushing buttons on my remote control and suddenly I see a list on the screen (I dont remember what it was on it). I pushed the "menu" button to get out of it, but the screen said "are you sure?" .i pressed "menu" again and the screen said "please wait". I turned the tv off to get out of it. when i turned it back on, all of my cable was gone and I went to "menu" to put the cable back on. (It was set to "air"). I had to re-memorize my channels and reset my clock. After doing this, there was a tiny line of snow on the top of my screen. Its unnoticable. I thought I fixed my tv, but when I went to play a DVD, I pushed "tv/av" on the remote, but on the screen, (it usually just says "av" in the corner), this time, it said "av1" and if you press "tv/av" again, it says "av2". On either "av1" or "av2", there is no picture from the dvd. Its just a blue screen. The dvd player shows that it works; but theres no picture on the screen. It cant be a problem with the DVD player because it was working fine before I pushed those buttons and had to restore my tv. Also, if you hook the VCR to the tv, you also get the same result as the DVD player. Please tell me what I did and how to fix it.

The menu does not have that option, the manual is very short and general (nothing on my problem)and I called the company. The woman did not know what she was saying. We talked for an hour. Whenever I had a question, she would put me on hold for ten to fifteen minutes to find an answer. Finally, she came to the conclusion that "there is definitely something wrong with your tv" and that I should send it back for the small price of $50.00, (not including shipping and handling.) Apparently, they've never had problems with that model. Thank you for your help, regardless.

You will need to go back into the menu and see what ia available in the video input mode. You may have switched the type of input you can use such as default or componts ect. If you have an isntruction manual, look in there or call the manufacturer, should also be in the instruction or user manual. Good Luck

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If the remote control is found OK; check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. Contact any service technician.
Hi, my name is Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. It sounds like your remote may need to be readdressed to your receiver box. I will list here for you the instructions on readdressing your remote to your DISH receiver. Another thing you may want to check is the batteries, make sure they are in the remote correctly and that they are fresh batteries. If you have any further questions or concerns post back here or email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to help! :)
Instructions for addressing remote to receiver
Go to System Info screen. You can do this by either pressing the system info button on the front of the DISH receiver box or by pressing the power button once and the channel up button once on the front of the receiver. You may need to open the little door on the front right side of the receiver to locate the buttons.
Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote. Change the number to something different then what is already listed in the white square.
Press the pound (#) button
Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will
appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.
Well your Philips universal remote control comes with a list of codes for devices by brand name. Find the first code for the brand name and type of device you wish to program. Turn all of your devices off, and then manually turn on the device you want to program. Press the Setup button on your the universal remote and continue to hold it down until the indicator light stops flashing and remains solid. Release the Setup button. Press the Mode button for the type of device you want to program on your Philips universal remote, such as the TV.Release it immediately and make sure the indicator light is illuminated. Enter the first possible four-digit code on the universal remote, and then press another button on the remote to see if the device is now programmed, such as the volume control or power button. If the device responds, you have successfully programmed your Philips universal remote. If not, turn the device off and back on and follow the steps again using the next code on the list. Repeat until the device successfully responds.
If your TV code is not listed on the manual then you can use the Remote Using Code Search Option - Your Philips universal remote has a built-in code search feature that will find the correct code for your device. This process may take longer than using direct code entry, but can be helpful if you do not have access to the code list or if the brand for your device is not listed.
Make sure all of your devices are turned off, and then manually turn on the first device. Press the Code Search button and hold it down until the red indicator light stays illuminated. Press the Mode button for the type of device you want to program on your Philips universal remote, such as the TV button. Release it immediately and make sure the indicator light is illuminated. Press either the Channel button until the device responds. You may have to press the button up to 300 times. Each time you press the button, the Philips universal remote tries a new code. When the code works, press the Mute button on the Philips universal remote and the code will be stored.
I thing you wrongly do the second option that creates the problem. No issue, if your tv code not listed on the manuals then you can go with the second (code search) solution. Please post comments for further help or information.........
My parent's JVC did this as well. It took us a little while to solve it (and through searching for how to fix it, found this post).
Using the JVC's remote control, we pushed the C.C. (closed caption) button and cycled to the "OFF" setting. That fixed it. Using the TV's front panel setting did not fix the issue, we had to use the remote control.
Note: the "text" CC setting re-displays the black box.
