Sony vaio pcg-2j3l is an all-in one desktop PC. The power cord is like a laptop, it doesn't have an power supply unit in the PC. The setup is like a laptop even thought they call it a desktop.
Just to clarify, the box (power brick) in the middle of the power cord is the power supply. With that said, there is a light on the box (may be green, blue, or some other color). Does it come on when you plug it in (assuming that the wall outlet or serge protector has power)? If it doesn't then the power cable needs to be replaced. If it does then there is something wrong with either the cable going between the box and the computer, the power connector, or the connector on the computer.

Its not for your model but should be close enough.
I am presuming that your laptop is OUT of warranty and you have a good idea of what you are doing?
Ensure you have an ESD strap on when touching components.
Good luck.
Let me know if this was useful.

Plug the thing in and recharge the battery for about 6 hours then push the power button to turn the thing on.

Have power supply checked with digital multi meter as they can still be faulty with green light on.

Sony's website appears to have manuals for download. Go to Sony support
and click on Manuals-Specs-Warranty on the left hand side. Enter the details for your machine or let it auto-detect if you're using the Vaio.
