Question about Canon PowerShot G5 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Video clips When I try to save video clips taken with my Canon G5, they freeze the folder where I'm trying to save them. I've had to save them on discs only because the minute they are in any folder in my computer, the folder is unusable because it freezes. I can't even open the video clip to watch it. Help Please! The manual doesn't address this problem at all. Thank you in advance for any help.

My G5 freezes constantly. What can I do.

Try running Apple Hardware Test on the machine (it's one of the discs that came with the machine.) Also, if it's freezing by showing the spinning rainbow cursor (beachballing) you may have a failing hard drive. That wouldn't be uncommon for how old the machine is.

You should also try to copy video file to your hard drive to prevent trouble due to a slow access to the SD card. Hope this will help.

G5 Troubleshooting error 52

A couple of cheap fixes. Worth a try. If it boots, go to disc utility in the utilities folder and restore disc permissions. Then run repair disc. If that fails, buy a copy of Disc Warrior and start from that disc.

I'm trying to load my photos from my camera to my computer and I'm getting a message that says "Save Folder Not Found." I've never had a problem before.

it is possible that the original "Save Folder" has been deleted or name changed. Go to options and create a new folder to save your photos to. Hope this can help. UAW 974

Be sure to backup your settings/games saves by doing a System > Backup on your PS3 or you may lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to Sony.

1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.

2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.

3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn't detected after initial reset).

4. Restore your back-up you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a back-up).

Hopefully this will solve your freezing problems.

Problems/symptons that this appears to have resolved:

- Freezing when doing anything
- No harddrive activity
- Freezing when trying to use onboard keyboard or bringing up keyboard
- Game/movie disc freezes system

Cannot Finalize my DVD

We had the same problem, and had the camera exchanged and same thing happened with that one.
I called Canon, JVC, and Memorex, because those are the discs that we used.
Everyone just blamed each other, for either, bad discs, or bad camera.
What we finally came up with was, we have a recordable DVD player that was fairly cheap, under $100. We hooked up the camera to the DVD and copied it to a full size disc. It somehow finalized the disc.
We were also told that we could bring our disc to a video place to have them do it, finalize it. I would cost us $85 per disc.
I hope this helps. I can tell you though, I am returning this camera and getting a different one. We are very disappointed in that finalization step. We almost lost everything!
