The error codes are telling me it's the console. I just put $400 into it a year ago. It was brand new with the house 6 years ago. I have 6 kids - can't have a washer that keeps breaking down!

Check your lid switch. This is the most common cause of the problem you are experiencing. Symptoms may include, filling and stopping on the intial fill cycle, a wash tub that will not drain, and stopping right after the wash cycle and not advancing to rinse or spin cycles.
The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.

RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

F35 is a water level error.
The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned.
If you remove the top panel, three screws in the back, you will have access to the pressure switch.
With the tub empty, remove the vinyl hose from the switch and blow backwards through the hose to clear any restrictions.
If the fault codes return after doing this, you will likely need to replace the pressure switch.
Also - please be sure to use He soap.

This problem has been found to be inherent with this model including its Whirlpool (Cabrio) and Maytag (Bravos) counterparts. It is due to the design of the water level control system, the pressure transducer, which has been integrated with the machine/motor control assembly. It has been found that issues with the pressure transducer including the pressure hose results in the flashing of the fault code F1. Air leaks and moisture in the pressure hose and lint or flashing in the air dome can result in signal error being sent to the machine/motor control assembly and hence the fault code F1 which is according to the service manual, a machine/motor control fault. You may observe that this fault code appears whenever water runs into the machine.
Whirlpool, the manufacturer of these models, has issued a bulletin regarding this issue and suggested the necessary actions in identifying the real cause of this problem and how to address it. Click on the link below for the troubleshooting and repair details.
