we also have a couple of blue blobs as you call them, but on top of that problem we have gone through 4 bulbs since 2005. The last one was replaced 5-7-2007 and a week after the TV started shutting off.(LED would blink 6 times),so we would unplug the unit and reset it. I invested in a tower fan to circulate more air that seemed to work for a while, then we had to turn the fan on medium then high and now the TV is shutting off again. We can only watch it for 30-to 40 min. at a time.Could I hav gotton a bad bulb? I should mention when we replaced the bulb last time we also had the fan checked and cleaned and a new thermal kit put in.

Greenish yellow spot only means one thing. You have a defective lite engine. The only fix is to replace the engine. This part is very
expensive. Average cost $835.00 Part number A-1606-008-A

It sounds like one of your circuit boards may be going out. I'm sorry I don't have a better response than that.

Hi Lucian

This is a common Mainboard failure problem on Projectors.

The unfortunate thing is that this can only be solved by having the part repaired or replaced.

SOURCE: SONY GRAND WEGA KF-50WE610 can't turn on TV screen.

Ths 5 blinks usually indicate an AKB problem. There is a break in the video path. I'll look up your specific model and post the results here. Please update this if you wish to attempt the repair yourself.

Thanks,
Dan

It sounds like your LVDS cable along with the ribbon cable to the lcd panel needs to be cleaned and re-seated. I recommend a service company to do the work. It's not expensive.

Little white dots on the screen

dirty lens, dirty mirrors, warped light guides, spider webs and mini-UFOs that fly across the inside can cause what you described.

but 6 months is pretty early for a cleaning but possible.

Off color spot on screen.

Sounds like the "purity" is off on your tv. This is caused by the
picture tube getting magnetized by a stereo speaker sitting too
close or by another object with a magnet. If there is nothing
magnetic near the set you may have to have the set demagnetized. A local TV shop should be able to do this for
you on a Carry-In basis while you wait, at a minimum price, but
call for an appointment first. This fix is for a direct view type set
only (using glass picture tube). Does not include LCD or Plasma
units.

Interference?

The picture tube on a TV can be magnitized by the Earth's magnetic field. The noise heard when you turn a TV on (usually followed by a static noise on the face on the TV) is called degauss. What this does it remove any magnetic variations on the tube due to things like the magnetic field and speakers. However, changes to the TV in orientation to the Earths magnetic field will cause the tube to have a magnetic bias. This is most prominent when turned 90 degrees. The easy way to clear this is to turn the TV off for a little while and then turn it back on. But remember that any movement once it is on can cause the discolorations to reappear. My suggestion would be to turn the tv after you've moved it to the location you'd like to view it.
