My MES30V Toshiba Gigabeat had been working fine for almost two years, but now when I try to sync with Windows Media Player, the Gigabeat locks up on the "Initializing..." screen and WMP will not recognize the player. The only way to unfreeze it is to turn off the battery for a few seconds, but it locks up again if I attempt to sync.
Same problem here. I had read about the Zune problem and hoped that by running down the battery last night and trying again today it would be fixed. but no luck.Same problem here. Same problem here with my S60. Tried letting the battery run down and then recharge, still completely locked up. Where do we go for support? Same problem here with my S60. Tried letting the battery run down and then recharge, still completely locked up. Where do we go for support?
I have the exact same problem with my S60. Player also freezes when I try to play the few CD's that I ripped and didn't download. I have the exact same problem with my S60. Player also freezes when I try to play the few CD's that I ripped and didn't download.
All, I tried the solution below. It's kind of an ordeal but it worked. You will have to reformat (and lose all data) but then you can sync again. All, I tried the solution below. It's kind of an ordeal but it worked. You will have to reformat (and lose all data) but then you can sync again.
Sweet! I tried it and it worked. I must say I wasnt quite sure when to unplug the device (everything is written in (Japanese?)), but when it appeared to be done, I unplugged it and everything was pretty easy to go along with from there. Its resyncing my files now.

the solution is simple. Simply Run both Gigabeat watcher and giga-room programs as administrator if u have windows vista.
How to do this :
Click on start in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen,
then click on all programs,
then click on the Toshiba Gigaroom Folder,
then right click Gigabeat watcher and click on "Run as Administrator"
then right click "Gigaroom" and click on Run as Administrator
and then look in the bottom right of the taskbar, the little Gigabeat watcher symbol should be there with a green square instead of grey. If its green then it means Vista has recognised your gigabeat and u can now transfer music to it via gigaroom. i hope this helps people as i was on the verge of buying XP myself again... Peace all and HAPPY GIGABEATIN!
i have the same issue. any luck figuring it out?
