I have a Maytag Preforma Top Load washer that all of a sudden it filled the washer made a noise but wont agitate drain spin nothing. I cant get the water out but if i scoop some water out it will fill more back in. It will go though the time like it going through cycle but wont do anything.

Your door lid has a switch that makes these functions work.First open the lid and look at the right side of it.Does it have a arm on it?If it does follow the direction where it is going to hit and now listn closely while your lifting the door up & down at this contact can you hear it click?If its not clicking or the arm is broken off the lid replace the lid switch/or the broken lid switch arm.
SOURCE: Agitation issues. Everything else appears/works normally.
I just encountered the same problem. I think the operation of the machine is such that the motor turns one direction for the spin cycle, and the other direction for the agitate cycle. I am replacing my motor, as I think i have a bad winding on the reverse. I will let you know.

sounds like you have a blown fuse. I dont have a schematic so I dont kno where you have to look to find it

if you hear a motot running the coupling between the motor and transmission has disinagrated.

Sounds like it is the bearing on the water pump. Take off back plate and replace and remove 3 screws and two hoses (the one hose is a waste line so make sure you have a bucket to empty our waste water) after removing these remove belt on bottom of pump.
