Hello, last week I brought my camera to a hockey game and it worked just fine. The camera was kept in my purse the whole evening and the next morning when I would try to turn it on, the LCD screen would just flash a bright white light. The only way I am able to turn the camera off is to remove the batteries and I don't know what could have happened to the camera. Usually when I turn the power on the lens would open up and it doesn't do this anymore. Any ideas what could be wrong with the camera? I've tried changing memory cards and batteries and nothing is working. This camera is less than a year old so I'd like to not have to replace it so please let me know if you can help.

Possible that the LCD screen has failed. You can take images and load them to the PC.,If the images are clean then the LCD is a suspect. remove the battery for sometime and reset. If the fault occurs as a blank screen then the LCD must be taken out and checked for possible damage.
You may be able to buy a new screen for your camera and fit it yourself.
It takes a bit of know how but can be done if you take your time.
Check the internet to see if a replacement screen can be bought for your camera.
Check the price if you think it's not worth the hassle
buy a new camera and get a bigger purse - better still buy a camera bag.
TRY SEARCING THROUGH ALL YOUR MENU MODES. MY CAMERA IS DIFFERENT THAN YOURS BUT MOST CAMERAS IT HAVE AN ADJUSMENT MODE TO BRIGHTEN OR DARKEN YOUR DISPLAY ...
JUST A SUGGESTION NOT A SOLUTION
I have Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital camera with same problem. I can almost guarantee this is not a firmware problem. I went mountain biking a few months ago and take pictures. I take out camera and turn on. I get lines then white screen. I banged on camera and fixed it. Later a few weeks ago I turn it on and white screen. i beat this thing and get bad menu selection screen for a moment then white again. It takes pictures well and talk to computer no problem but no LCD picture. I thinking it is loose connection for LCD. Send it for repair or if you seek adventure try to fix it yourself!
