Freezer/Refigerator not working

Ok, started off yesterday evening with the freezer leaking water through the closed door. We kept the door shut but it just kept on. The temperature in there eventually unthawed everything. So, then this morning I check the fridge part, well, its temperature had started going up too. By the time I checked it again two hours later, everything was barely under room temperature. The power is on, lights are working, I unplugged and plugged back in. The "blower" if thats even what its called is blowing you can hear it and feel it with your hand in the freezer and the fridge. It just isnt cooling it down to where it needs to be. Any suggestions? Hubby wants to buy a new one but as much money as we paid for this thing I think it can be fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

You need to check if the compressor is running. If it is not the relay on the compressor might be blown out. That is a very comon part on whirlpool made units. Unplug the unit and remove the cover on the compressor and take the relay off. If you shake it and you hear a lot of noise from it like small rocks the relay is bad. Its not a expensive part ti replace.

Freezer is not keeping food frozen and water is leaking between the freezer door and seal on the freezer door? The fan is blowing cool air.

is the compressor running?how long has the freezer been melting out?if you open the fridge door, turn the cold control up and listen to see if you hear the compressor start,if it doesn't try tapping on the control with a screw driver,if the control is bad it sticks inside and if you tap it sometimes it will free it and start but it will stop again, just doing this to check what's bad in the fridge, lso there's a timer in the fridge section, look around where the control is,you'll see a hole in the bottom of the console, you can stick a straight bladed screw driver up it and turn it slowly until it clicks,if the compressor starts when it clicks you have a bad timer and it was stuck in defrost,if the compressor is running and the freezer is still melting out you could have a leak in the sealed system a freon leak, you can check this by removing the back inside wall of the freezer, look at the evap coil,if there's just ice on the top instead of an even frost pattern over the whole coil then you have a freon leak,if the fridge has been running and you look at the coil it should have frost covering the whole coil,if ice is just on top it's new refigerator time, get back to me and let me know if the compressor is running, iis the door closing correctly and no rips in the gasket,if it has a light in the freezer push the light switch in and make sure the light is going out,if not the bulb is heating up the freezer, make sure the evap fan is blowing in the freezer and no ice on the back wall of the freezer, has any water been dripping into the fridge from the freezer,if so you have a blocked drain.do some checks and get back to me,if the freezer is melting out it sounds like you have a compressor problem

Kenmore 18 top freezer doesnt freeze completely. refigerator cools to 48 f .

possible causes: bad door seals or condensate drain plugged causing evaporator coils (in freezer) to ice up, condenser or evaporator fans not on, condenser coils dirty, compressor not working, or a freon leak. if the back wall of your freezer is frosty or super cold, the coils are iced up. remove the back wall and defrost it with a hair dryer. if the water doesn't drain, unclog the drain tube. check the door seals for gaps. replace if necessary. check the fan in the freezer and the fan in the back. both should come on when the compressor is on. if not, check the fuses on the main board. replace if needed. if all that is fine, and there is no frost, you have a slow leak or a bad compressor. call in a pro or get a new fridge.

Freeezes vegetables milk etc. even with refrig turned up.  Tried turning up freezer by 2 pts. ..Then tried turning up refrigerator to 44..Still no luck.No one seem to repair Lg Refigerator.s  in...

Have you made sure that the door to the ice maker area is closed and tighly latched? If the door is not pushed closed so that you hear the latch snap shut, colder air from the ice room will leak past the gasket and result in freezing in the bins and / or on the bottom refrig shelf. Another possibly might be air leakage at the very back bottom of the refrigerator section, where the air tower comes out from the freezer section.

Water is leaking on the top shelves in my kenmore refriderator water is leaking on the top shelves in my kenmore I have water leaking onto the top shelf of our Kenmore refrigerator. I believe it goes into...

During the defrost cycle heaters inside the walls of the freezer turn on to melt the frost. The melted frost "water" is supposed to drain into a pan under the fridge where it will evaporate. I think the drain line from the freezer to this pan may be blocked. I'd also check the seal on the freezer door. If it's not sealing well it lets a lot of moisture into the freezer which means more water during the defrost cycle. I'd also recommend checking to make sure the ice maker is not leaking.

Kenmore refrigerator not cooling

Is there frost on the back wall? If so your coil is frozen up and you have a defrost problem. The water coming out of the freezer door could also be caused by the same problem.

Refigerator leaked water slightly then stoped cooling

Yes try to turn with a screw driver if possible. If it start working replace timer. If not it can be low on freon you would see frosting but no cooling.

Water leaking out of freezer door water dispenser

The fill valve that supplies the water may not be shutting off completely. Also check to see that the lever is closing completely.
