Hi - I understand that the burners work, however I would recommend verifying that a fuse is not blown or a circuit breaker tripped. Test the power outlet with a lamp, hair dryer, etc. Another question, does "Loc" appear in the display if any button is pushed? The Oven Lockout feature automatically locks the oven door, prevents the warmer drawer and most oven controls from being turned ON. If so, press and hold CLEAR/OFF for 3 seconds. Then a beep will sound and LOC will clear. The "DOOR LOCKED" will continue to flash until the oven door has completely unlocked. Does the clock display "Sd" or "dddd"? If so, the clock is in sales demo mode. Press and hold the "BAKE TIME" button for 6 seconds to exit sales demo mode. If this does not prove to be successful, contact a professional to have EOC diagnosed, confirm that there isn't a wiring failure or a faulty element.

SOURCE: oven controller not functioning

9. The time of day does not display on my electronic oven control. If I push the CLOCK pad on the control panel the time will display for a few seconds and then it goes blank again.

  • On many ranges with electronic controls the time of day display can by turned off or on by holding the CLOCK keypad down for 15 seconds.
Push and hold the CLOCK keypad. The time will appear for a few seconds, and then disappear and finally it will reappear and beep. Release the keypad and the time should continue to display. Follow this same procedure to turn the time display off.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Range control panel DEAD

We tested the EOC and it will indeed need a replacement. Also, just a couple weeks prior we ran the "clean" mode on the oven as did another poster who experienced the "pop" and loss of the control board/oven function, but still had stove top function.

SOURCE: Oven Element and Broil both do not heat

you should have 220v between the two terminals of the elements, either the switch is broken or a contact is burned or a feed wire is broken to the switch, check wire diagram and carefully analyze the system while it is "hot" ie... energized

Clock, timer.& oven don't work. No electric on top panel All burners are fine

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

It sounds like the hi-limit safety thermostat may be tripped, the scenario you described is exactly how this would manifest

"clock, timer.& oven don't work. No electric on top panel All burners are fine"
...that is the component that typically trips/activates during a self clean on many ranges. You shouldn't need to open the front control panel, but access is through the back. (this can also occur during power surges)

You'll need to slide the range/oven outfrom the cabinet. If you slide the unit away from the wall and unplug it you can check the hi-limit.

It will either be a non-reset type hi-limit or push to reset. If non-reset it needs to be replaced, if push to reset type, simply pushing in the red button will get you back up and cooking in no time.

**Unplug the range from the wall first of course...safety first**

Once you remove the panel you will need to look for a switch/thermostat which looks like either of these...

NON-RESET
macmarkus_1079.jpg

PUSH TO RESET

The replacement if necessary are available at "searspartsdirect.com" or "repairclinic.com" to name a couple.

Let me know how you make out. Good luck. I'll watch for your reply and if you need anything further I'll be glad to help in any manner I can.

Maytag oven will not heat, no gas flow. Broiler works, clock and timer works.

Hi,

You may even see the orange "glow plug" (called a hot surface igniter) glowing orange and so assume that it's OK. Not necessarily!! You have to measure the current/amp drawn by the igniter and compare it to this repair sheet before you can say it's OK or not. The gas valve has a bi-metal that open when a certain amount of current flows through it to heat it up. The igniter is wired in series with the gas valve. As the igniter gets older or weaker, it's resistance increases to the point where not enough current is flowing to the gas valve bimetal to open it up. As a result, the gas valve never opens up. BTW, a common symptom of the early stages of this problem is erratic temperature control in the oven due to delayed firing of the bake burner while cooking.

The hot surface igniter will not come on - check igniter with a ohm meter, you should have continuity through the glow bar, the glow bar can also crack = new igniter time. The glow bar comes on but the main burner will not light - you should have an amp probe to check properly, but often this is a hot surface igniter problem. The hot surface igniter often looses it's ability to get hot enough to open the gas safety valve. The safety valve can fail, but most times it is just a bad hot surface igniter. The hot surface igniter can also quit part way through cooking , in other words the oven may cycle a couple of times and then it just sits there with the red glow from the igniter. See this service sheet for the proper way and amp readings for the hot surface igniter system. Hot surface igniters do weaken and will eventually generate less heat than they normally could. When this happens they can still allow marginally correct current to flow to the oven gas valve for it to open but not get quite hot enough to ignite the gas burner immediately. When this happens, gas released into the oven can sometimes build up to the point where when finally ignited, the amount of gas lit can cause a small explosion inside the oven or cause an odor of gas with out the oven working. Yes, your glow bar igniter can glow orange-red and still be bad!! How a common gas valve works - click here.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

I have a Fisher & Paykel OS302. The temperature and oven mode selects are dead, no LED display, no operation. The clock module is working. This happened all at once, I tried to turn it on and both...

This sounds as if the electronic clock timer is in automatic mode. It must be in manual mode for the oven to work. Turn the oven on and play around with the timer controls/buttons. When the oven indicator light comes on the clock is in manual mode.

Range Model YKESC307HWO: Received Voltage Spike from Power Supply Company resulting in damage to several appliances including my Kitchen Aid Range. The control panel does not light up anymore, resulting in...

It sounds like the control board of the timer is faulty. Do you need the electronic timer/clock. If you don't it is normally easy to by-pass the timer altogether. Find the main active wire coming into the timer. Then identify the load wiring which runs from the timer to the oven thermostat control. These two wires simply need to be connected and the timer is bypassed and the oven will work.

The burners work but the clock does not light up and the oven won't work either

It sounds like your Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board is defective. This is the clock/timer assembly on the operator console. The EOC controls all the features for your oven, but the surface burners work independently. So, if the surface burners still work, the oven does not and the display is not present, its time to replace the EOC. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3727366-replacing_control_kitchen_range

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also offer helpful exploded view diagrams to help you locate and properly identify the parts you need. The EOC will be listed under the "Control Panel" parts section as item 2. The price and part number will depend upon the last three digits of the model number.

If you have questions please post back with a complete MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you.

The center clock-oven module no longer lights up and the oven doesn't work, but the burners on top work. model rf341bxk. The oven light still works. Is there a fuse blown that I can replace?

Hello, welcome to fixya.

Unfortunately many modern ranges do not incorporate fuses into the control panels, other than the 15amp outlets used for plugging in external devices, they are typically the resettable type fuse.

Many manufactures have gone away from the typically glass fuse style circuit interrupters of previous ranges of say 15-20yrs ago and older.

If the clock display is not illuminated nor functioning, but the surface element functions appear fine, it is likely a fault within the clock ( also referred to as a timer or erc ) itself. Check for possible burnt or loose wires going into the timer such as L1 or L2 etc.

**Please unplug the range or turn off the 40amp breaker at your homes service panel before attempting any service to the range**

The part for the timer/clock is # 3196967 and retails for between $167 to $233 at "searspartsdirect.com" and "repairclinic.com" respectively as I type this on June 6/2010.

Hope this info was helpful to you...even if it isn't great news. Please take a moment and rate the info I provided and thanks for visiting "fixya".

Range

Unfortunately this usually means the Clock/Timer assembly needs to replaced. The Clock/Timer controls all the features of the oven, while the surface burners are controlled by each individual infinite switch on the control panel. Thats why your surface burners will still work, but the oven does not. That fact that there is no display also is a symptom the board is defective. They boards do not have a fuse and are not servicebale. It needs to be replaced. This is not a difficult repair and can easily be repalced by the average do-it-yoursefler. The following link epxlains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3727366-replacing_control_kitchen_range

The part number for a replacement circuit board is 316207522. The overlay (the plastic preprinted template that is applied to the board) is sold separately (part number 316220804). If the current overlay is still in good shape, it can be peeled off and reused.

You can purchase replacement parts at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing. So, shop and compare.

NOTE: The Sears website sells a refurbished version of the control board for much less than the other sites. The part number is 316207502R.

If you have any questions about this repair, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
