A friend of mine is having trouble with his copier. On the message panel it is displaying:
door covers open.
close covers on relay.
I have been over the machine checking all the door covers and even activating the sensors to try and get it to register they are closed but to no avail.
Any ideas ?
cheers in advance.

The relay door is the door on the lower right side, below the duplex unit. Check this door -- it may not be closed all the way, or the actuator (the piece of plastic that sticks off the door and is the part that blocks the sensor) may be broken. If neither of these is the case, the sensor may be bad.
Enter in the service mode(SPmode),open the front cover and turn OFF the copier.Unpluged the machine, wait 10sec.amd pluged ON.Before clean the thermistors and thermofuses in the image fusing unit.Close the front door and turn ON the copiers.
