Remove the toner cartridge and go in there with a vacuum cleaner using either the crevice tool or brush attachment as appropriate. This will leave a nasty black residue on your brush. If you have a compressor you can take it outside and blow it out, but keep the pressure relatively low.

How do I prevent excess toner from spilling out of cartridge and affecting copies?

If you 'replaced' or refitted the original cartridge, then I would suggest that the toner cartridge has failed. If this is the case, please try a new one.
If the original has not done a fair (check manufacturers specification) number of prints, you may be able to ask for a replacement.
If this was a new cartridge, and printer uses separate drums and toner cartridges. Then it could be a faulty drum. Above replacement path could be tried.

Can I reuse excess toner from printer cartridge?

It can be rescued, but the trouble and mess that you will endure is often not worth the challenge. Send the cartridge in for recycling and score some environmental friendly karma instead. Most office supply stores will accept them.

Printer that priints dirty work

This is caused by a dirty photo drum that has a worn cleaning blade that removes the excess toner from the photo drum.
Remove the printer toner cartridge and use a soft cloth to wipe the photo drum clean of toner particles. Then insert the toner cartridge back into the printer.

I need to clean out my Laser printer - OKI OL 400EX

I replenished the empty toner cartridge using the contents of a reduced price (from PCWorld) cx-OKI400l-is cartridge. For this you need a steady hand and a very small, very shiny stainless steel funnel. These are available from a good kitchenware shop. There is a removable cap to the cartridges. I understand one should only use the Toner from a cartridge by the same manufacturer as the printer. My old OKI OL400ex is now working again. I still don't have the answer to: Where does the excess Toner go? Does it fill up the printer drum? Michael UK

At times i get a message 14 no toner cart and then i am unable to make prints

No Toner then it prints again..
This could be lower toner, a generic toner cartridge will sometimes produce this, or dirty contacts where the cartridge lays in machine.
Look at the toner cartridge, where you see shiny silver or bronze, clean excess toner off, also in machine where toner cartridge lays, clean all excess toner out.

Toner dumping

check under the drum, if there is excess toner there it is most likely coming from the drum unit or the cleaning unit, this is a unit that is on the drum and is supposed to remove any excess toner and dump it into a waste container. it may be full or blocked
