SOURCE: memorex dvd player pscan split screen

I work for Memorex technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-919-3647.

On the back of your player you should see a switch that can slide back and forth that's marked PSCAN. Slide the switch into the opposite position from which it's in now. The should solve your problem.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

My zenith xbv343 dvd vcr combo has a problem when i put on a dvd it says progressive scan mode i cant see nothin else

Hello
That means the DVD you put into it to play has recordings with "progressive scan" mode. You have to change the mode of the DVD and TV which you wants to see to Progressive Scan mode to see the disc content. OK.

My memorex combo dvd & vhs player is not working right. can you help me? the vhs player works fine, but the dvd player display's a split screen on the tv with a large yellow box with the word PSCAN....

PSCAN is a short form for Progressive Scan - a line scanning format used for High Definition TV. Standard TVs use Interlaced scanning. On your DVD/VHS player, the VHS is an analogue signal recorded in interlaced mode so is fine for a standard TV. The DVD is a digital signal and cazn be processed for progressive scan output in order to produce a better picture on a High definition TV (or a TV capable of handling progressive scan). If you cannot to your TV via the HD outputs then you should be able to set the DVD player to output interlaced instead of progressive scan.

Does the JVC xv s40 have progressive scan?

Sorry but this DVD does not have progressive scan. Before buying another DVD player with progressive scan ensure the tv you have can receive progressive scan signals. If not it doesn't matter if the dvd has progressive scan or not. Hope this helps.

Split screen on DVD player

This sounds like a progressive scan issue (unit in P.Scan Mode) here is a C&P from the manual

Set "Alt Video Out"
Highlight "Alt Video Out", then press the RIGHT button to select
one of the following options:
• S-Video - Select this if you are using the S-Video OUT jack on
the rear panel to connect to a TV.
• Component - Select this if you are using the COMPONENT
VIDEO OUT jacks on the rear panel to connect to a
Progressive(480p) or Interlaced (480i) TV.
• See your TV owner's manual to determine what type of TV you
have.
- Interlace : Interlaced Scan mode will work.
- Progressive : Progressive Scan mode will work, and Video
and S-Video will not work.
• Press the Progressive button on the front panel if you have a
Progressive scan TV only. Otherwise, the picture will be
disturbed.

Split screen

It appears that it has something to do with Progressive Scan been turned on. Progressive Scan is a feature built in your dvd player, wich by using it, it would give you a better picture//resolution on your tv, you need to use Component or HDMI cables to hook up the dvd to your tv if you want this settings, but if you are using composite RCA cables (Red,White & Yellow) and the Progressive funtion is turned on by accident, it may give you a split screen, black & white, or no picture problems. Also if you are using Component (Blue, Green & Red) cables, if one of them is unplug, the picture can be out of colors, or no picture. Check this things, if not, write back with more details about your set up.

Memorex dvd player pscan split screen

Memorex MVD2042 - The only switch on the back of the unit had gotten bumped when something fell behind the unit, thus causing the same issue mentioned here. Looking at the front of the unit, the switch is straight back from the disc tray on the left. (of course, if you're looking at the back, it's on the right side) This switch is for "Progressive Scan" either "on" or "off" Thanks, Wizard_Yo
