Tvtek is on the right track. The remote will not solve the problem. Sounds like a voltage regulator in HV circuit if it only lasts a few seconds. If it stays on for a couple of minutes, beam limiter cicuit is pushing to overload and shutting unit down. Magnavox set not hard to repair, but a 27" set is not cost effective to repair either.

Sounds like a shut down issue. Replacing the remote control wont fix the issue if the set wont stay on even using the power button.

Why does my Samsung not turn off my cable box?

It sounds like the box and TV are out of sync. If the DVR is shut off, turn off the TV manually (NOT with the remote.) The next time you hit the power on the remote, both units should power up together. Make sure the remote is pointed at both device at the same time and slowly sweep the remote to hit both of them while holding the power button. I have always used the cable/DVR remote to control my devices and left the TV remote in a basket for setup stuff only on the TV.

Trying to incorporate my Hannspree remote with my cable remote as to use just the cable remote......? Thanks, ph

Hi, unfortunately the only way to use your particular brands remote with your cable companies remote is if the cable remote has what's called a "LEARN " key. This is used for cloning another remotes codes to the cable's remote. Unfortunately most tv suppliers don't provide their codes for universal remote use. The first thing i would do is contact your cable providers customer assistance to see if they have setup codes for your brand. then if that doesn't work then you can always buy a universal remote with a " LEARN " function, enabling use with hanspree tv as well as current cable box. I hope this was helpful and thanks, let us know how we did, Good luck ,Prodzilla

I lost my remote, now i cant turn tv on

  • Keep in mind, there is a power button front of set also. But, if you want to use a remote, go to remote central.com and they should be able to get you the factory remote.
  • If you are using cable box or satellite box, you should be able to use that remote for powering on the set.
  • In the back of the cable box or satellite box there will be codes to enter in the remote for that set to work with the remote. Give that a try and let me know how things turn out.... Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions or need more in depth knowledge for this repair... Have a great day...HDTV GURU JAY

I accidently pushed something on the remote to my sony wega trinitron and now it says 'no signal' I don't know how to get the picture back

You probably switched the TV from analogue to digital mode or vice-versa.

There should be a small button on your remote control marked DTV or ATV. Try pressing this.

If you are using a separate cable/satellite/tuner box from a SCART cable, turn off the tv, and turn off the cable/satellite box. Then turn the TV back on, then the cable/satellite box back on. The TV should recognise there is an external input and you should be OK.

I have a Craig Model CLC501 and have to use both Comcast's control and the TV control in order to shut off TV. I have programmed everything else but can't seem to get tv to shut off with Craig control. Do...

Most cable supplies provide a switched receptacle on the rear of their cable boxes. Plug the power supply for the tv in there if you want the cable box to shut the tv off when you shut the cable box off.

Tv always turns on to channel 7

If you are using a cable box, go into the general settings on cable box, use cable remote. Go to "viewer power on", and you can chose what channel you want the tv to turn on to .
