Recently my Akai will turned on by main power button on unit will not operate correctly. It maintains a blinkling LED with a click once every second. It did not help unplugging the unit for a day or so, it continues to blink and click. 120 Volts is present at receptacle and have concluded it is something internal to the player.

The clicking sound is the relay switch on the power board, it could be the power board or the logic board

There are about 16 to 17 capacitors that are a common fail point on this TV. I can repair your power supply board with new high quality capacitors and recondition the board to work like new for $100 + S/H, you simply have to send me the power supply module and turn around is approx 2 days from the time I receive the package to the time its out the door. Approx 8 business days according to the delivery carrier you use.

The flashing light indicates a short circuit inside the power supply circuitry. This type of repair is not a DIY without a multimeter, desoldering iron and hand soldering skills. I repair these power supplies, if you need further info write to [email protected]

The only solution I have found so far, is to throw it in the garbage. I'm investing in a new model. Not sure what to go with, I like how simple the AKAI was.
