Hi marcellanam,

I see you need to have your BIOS unlocked.

Only dell unlock your BIOS for you call DELL and get assistance on unlocking your BIOS, you can ge that to a computer shop but it will cost you and will most likely be done in a different way and may change many things on your Dell machine.

I strongly suggest that you call Dell for the BIOS to be unlocked all you have to do is call Dell and give them the systems service TAG number so they can give you the unlock code for the BIOS.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: DELL BIOS password is unknown for DEL C400

Dell keeps a master code for each of their machines. All you have to do is transfer ownership of the machine into your name, if it isn't already, and give tech support a call, and they'll give you the code over the phone. You can transfer ownership at Dell's support site, there a subcategory on the left of the screen that reads "ownership transfer". Here's a link for the tech support number.

SOURCE: dell latitude c400 model PP03L, how to install xp

If you already have an USB flas bootable with XP on it, plug in into the laptop, and when the laptop starts, press F12. Then you should select that the computer should boot from USB. If this won't work, try to attach an external DVD\cd unit.

SOURCE: how can i fix BIOS problem on dell c400

Depends on if you still have a bios boot. U need to see while your flashing one. Dell has the flash tool on their site and a step by step follow the directions exactly and read 20 times b4 you attempt. If you have no bios boot at all then the bios chip itself has to be replaced. However you may as well buy a donor with a screen problem make the best out of 2.

You can download the video and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system.
