Yes, $100.00 was too much for that system. I saw a refurbished Dell GX270 2.8Ghz 512MB 40GB HD CD/R/RW Windows XP Pro COA w/SP3 and all updated drivers installed for $114.00 + $5.24 shipping (amazon). Also see a Refurbished IBM ThinkCentre A50P(8193A3U) Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 512MB DDR 48x CD-ROM 40GB HD for $149.99 + 3 day free shipping (NewEgg). There are a lot of great reasonable sellers on Ebay but it's waters are getting more and more filled with Sharks as well (as well as many other sites, Just used Ebay as an example). I know this info doesn't help much now but hopefully in the future it can. You see a certain price on a system, do a full search on that same system and compare prices and shipping charges on what you find out there.

Here you can enter the service tag or the system model and get your system information (probably includes the bios ver.) and the update you need.

Unfortunately, Dell doesn't support Windows 7 for the OptiPlex GX260. You could try an older driver and see if it will work, but you can't get any Windows 7 drivers for the GX260. (At least not yet.)
You can view a list of Dell computers that are Windows 7-compatible here:

What is the last change you made to your system before this happen?
If you have change or upgrade the ram then it can be sure that the rams
are causing problem. In this case pull out all ram stick, then just stick
in one buy one to determine which ram is causing that problem.
I've the same system and had experienced the same problem when I
tried to stick another stick into the system.
The ram stick that caused problem will cause the same problem when
you stick it into another system also if the stick is the issue.
OOT:
For hardening you PC i recommend download all the new driver from
support.dell.com. I've even flashed my bios the last version, work well,
but this has nothing to do with the reboot issue. That seemed to be
typical ram problem.
Hope it helps.
