SOURCE: DELL OptiPlex GX150 Upgrading

Yes, $100.00 was too much for that system. I saw a refurbished Dell GX270 2.8Ghz 512MB 40GB HD CD/R/RW Windows XP Pro COA w/SP3 and all updated drivers installed for $114.00 + $5.24 shipping (amazon). Also see a Refurbished IBM ThinkCentre A50P(8193A3U) Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 512MB DDR 48x CD-ROM 40GB HD for $149.99 + 3 day free shipping (NewEgg). There are a lot of great reasonable sellers on Ebay but it's waters are getting more and more filled with Sharks as well (as well as many other sites, Just used Ebay as an example). I know this info doesn't help much now but hopefully in the future it can. You see a certain price on a system, do a full search on that same system and compare prices and shipping charges on what you find out there.

You need to go to the following site:
support.dell.com
Here you can enter the service tag or the system model and get your system information (probably includes the bios ver.) and the update you need.

Unfortunately, Dell doesn't support Windows 7 for the OptiPlex GX260. You could try an older driver and see if it will work, but you can't get any Windows 7 drivers for the GX260. (At least not yet.)

You can view a list of Dell computers that are Windows 7-compatible here:

What is the last change you made to your system before this happen?

If you have change or upgrade the ram then it can be sure that the rams
are causing problem. In this case pull out all ram stick, then just stick
in one buy one to determine which ram is causing that problem.

I've the same system and had experienced the same problem when I
tried to stick another stick into the system.

The ram stick that caused problem will cause the same problem when
you stick it into another system also if the stick is the issue.

OOT:
For hardening you PC i recommend download all the new driver from
support.dell.com. I've even flashed my bios the last version, work well,
but this has nothing to do with the reboot issue. That seemed to be
typical ram problem.

Hope it helps.

Hi,
I see you are having issues with you LG monitor.
What type of video card do you have on your computer? if I may ask.
And also did the LG Monitor come with a disc to install the Monitor.
The VGA means it is using VGA a a mode or type of cable connection for the Video, what cable are you using? are you using an HDMI connection for the Monitor/LCD or is it the Blue Cable on both ends if it is the Blue Cable then that is using VGA so it will say on VGA meaning it detects the video connection from that cable.
Are you asking because this shows every time you turn the LCD monitor ON , is that correct, if that is the reason it is normal.
The question I see is incomplete? and when you? what happens?windows detected my monitor as generic non pnp monitor and when i installed the inf file for lg monitor and updated and rebound to generic non pnp monitorit says device on vga and when i

I upgraded optiplex GX260 with Windows Vista. I lost video resolution on the monitor. Can you email me the link for the driver? Thanks, paa

Vista has a cutoff date on desktop computers for supporting drivers for video.
Your options are to go back to XP, or see if your computer has a spare
PCI slot, if so then buy a PCI VGA board that is Vista supported.
When you open your case and install the board, bootup and Vista
will detect the new VGA board and install the required drivers.

Hi guys! I badly need a help. hope someone can help me solve my prob in my averatec 6200 series. i just upgraded my OS from windows XP to windows 7. in my performance rating i always get a 1.0 rate bec of...

Hi, it does not matter which monitor the Notebook has, the ratings may change depending on the Hardware performance of the Notebook, Please make sure you have installed all the latest Drivers for Windows 7 OS. Usually the notebook manufacturer will release Drivers for Windows 7 OS in there Website. If you are using Windows XP Drivers for Windows 7 then the performance may vary.

Please check your Hardware Specification by downloading Speccy program from the below link:

http://www.piriform.com/speccy

Please follow the below steps to enable Hardware Acceleration.

1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
2. Double click Personalization and select Display Settings.
3. Click Advanced Settings.
4. Click Change Settings on the Troubleshooting tab.
5. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to Full.
6. Click Apply and then click OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box.
7. Click OK to close the Display Properties dialog box.
8. Restart Windows.

Windows 7 doesn't recognize my iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 Monitor, what to do?

My Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 works with Windows 7 when connected with a VGA video cable that has 5 BNC RGB connectors that attach to the back of the Iiyama monitor. No driver install was needed; Windows 7 shows my Iiyama monitor as a "Generic Non-PnP Monitor" with 1024x768 resolution.

I have a dell Optiplex gx260. I bought a nice big Acer 23"monitor 1920x1030 but the max resolution in the graphics properties is 1280x1024 so I get a stretched screen or a poor resolution

jenny_beech

The resolution 1920x1030 is not a standard resolution. Also at the time this computer came out you did not have monitors this big ether. So you most likely will not be able to get 1920x1030 on this computer. However if you install the drivers for the monitor on the computer you should atleast get the right aspect ratio so you have poor resolution. You should have a CD with the drivers on in it. The llink below will show you haw to install them maually in Windows 7 if the drivers are not in an installer. Let me know if you need the steps for Windows XP.
