Picture distortion in your rear projection TV is because of failure of convergence out ICs that need to be replaced.
Qualified TV tech will fix it under $150 or $200 and if your are good in part soldering in circuit boards and have electronics knowledge then can replace by yourself.
Required ICs can be purchased from Part Store.

you need the ssm panel. You can get a replacement panel for your model at the following link.Which is the correct board for your model it controls color, convergence and etc.

Hi, the M3 6400 doesn't have a lamp; it is an overhead projector (dynamic) display which needs an external light source. When you start it en put a ordinary lamp behind it and after connected it to a 'source' (computor...video) you will see images appear.

Whats the model number of your set? Also try pressing in the menu and input/device buttons both in together on the front panel for 5 seconds to see if the set blinks a two digit error code. Then let me know the blinks and your model number. Please respond to this same post when replying.

The model number should be on a tag on the back panel. If you can post the moel number I can post the correct Ics and also a link where you can get replacements with free instalation instructions. If you cant locate the model number does the tag satet the year of manufacture?

Should you opt for a replacement, you may want to consider DVI to VGA Analog Video Cable or similar products.

Alternately, you can use a converter box that will accept VGA inputs but whose output is DVI-D compatible. A fine example is VGA to DVI Converter/Scaler but of course any comparable brand/model should also work.

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence
