Question about IBM ThinkPad T21 Notebook
I have the same problem. actually its a common problem for many T21 and other old IBM laptops.
i searched that you have to take all power (batery, adaptor)
press the power 10 times and press it for 30 secs then reinsert the battery or adaptor and try to power it on.
they say its done to discharge a certain capacitor that got overcharged after overcharging the battery.
that worked for me before but now my T21 wont start any more with this process.

Assuming you are on AC wired power (through wall cube supply), then it may be either hardware failure (internal DC supply circuit) or CMOS chip. open the unit and look for a jumper that reads "RESET"

IBM Thinkpads do not use CMOS anymore. they use eeprom. You cannot reset by removing th ebattery or shorting a reset jumper or switch.

I was just on my ThinkPad 21 yesterday. It was working fine. Today, I go to turn it on and it won't. The orange battery charge button on the monitor will blink, than stay lit, and go back to blinking. When I push the power button, the battery indicator light on the keyboard lights up and then dies immediately. There is no fan sound, no nothing. The green light where my ethernet cable is plugged in is lit, so I'm assuming it isn't the battery, but I'm not sure. I'm so frustrated and confused!
Is it a motherboard problem?
