Question about Danby DWC283BLS Wine Cooler

1 Answer

Noisy fan problem solved..... at least for now.

I bought this unit second hand. I guess the previous owner was tired of the loud fan noise. I have it in the spare bedroom and thought I can't keep it in here as it's so loud and was getting ready to put it in the trash. My favorite thing for fixing things worked, at least for now. I unplugged the unit and sprayed some WD-40 onto the fan, It's now quiet and I'll see how long it will last. Just thought I would share this.

Thank you FireAtWill. The WD-40 didn't work as I hoped. I will try your recommendation. I'll see about getting into the fan from the back and get some information from Danby. There should be a part number somewhere. Thanks again!

Not familiar with Danby or wine coolers, but I have messed with enough appliances including fridges. The same exact fan and motor are often used by different manufacturers and are "off the shelf" items you can get at most appliance parts suppliers. See if you can get any part numbers or info off the fan motor or from Danby's web site. Then see if a local supplier has one. If the fan has spade connectors, you may be able to swap it out without having to cut/splice wires.

SOURCE: fan noise

Sometimes the bearing gets dry. Take it out and try to put a small amout of household/3M oil on the shaft to see if it helps. Some have small holes that are for putting oil into to feed the bearings.. You may be able to do this without taking it out. Be very sparing with the oil to prevent getting too much in it.

Why am I experiencing a vibration or grinding while turning?

get the car serviced and diagnosed? noise finding takes hands on work. not guessing.
do you need list. and are you a hands on person? many here are not just looking for wild guessing. which are you>?

i cant even guess. as you never said what corner or car makes noise. kinda key to Discovery. and cause.
my guess its the front. end.
bad brakes.
bad wheel bearings
bad U-joints. up front.
disc caliper pistons stuck or the guide pins SEIZED.
Disc rotor damage of any kind. (inspections find most of these)

tires with too low pressure can cause odd effects. truly odd.
one tire i had , had side wall deformations, (cheap tires , factory 2nds by previous owners) and when low, they make steering wheel ripple effects///, the most odd thing ive ever seen, not 1960 when this happened all the time. (nylon cord tires or worse).
Inspect tires for damage or low air pressure, (every 30 days)

but grinding is bad news, any machine that grinds, is the sign of doom. (metal against metal dry)

the rule on noise, is LOCATION , it's exact location.

Just bought a samsung second hand - cooltech SR385NTS -it is very noisy is that normal and if they have a gas leak how can you tell and is it dangerous?

if unit is very old the compressor may be the noise but look at fans and tubing as a cause of the noise first . and the rubber insulator under the compressor . if you have a gas leak the unit will not cool and you cannot smell it . most units only use .5 oz of gas . this will not be dangerous . ps not good so smell it but generaly its harmless .. mm R 12 AND 134. ARE VERY SAFE ..

The fan of dell gx280 producing a loud sound, how I fix it ?

Sometimes something is stuck in the grill and the blades keep touching it, other times the bearings have worn down and the fan or entire power supply needs replacing.  I used to hit my PCs noisy fan with the palm of my hand and the loud noise stopped!

Fan noise loud, bulb burst. Replaced with new bulb. Noise even louder! Unit shuts itself off.

the bulb may have burst from overheating from a fan not working to cool it down. and it can be replaced. it does take, however, a while to replace it because you have to take half of it apart. but make sure it's the fan first. take the lamp door off and remove the lamp. use something small and thin to push in the switch that the lamp door usually activates. turn the projector on and see if the lamp fan and the colorwheel (the multicolor glass disk) are spinning. if the fan spins, the noise may be from the colorwheel motor going bad. the fan can be purchased through an infocus authorized service center. check the website for the closest one. but the colorwheel for the x1 cannot be purchased seperately from the optical engine, and that costs a fortune. but here is the part number for the 80mm fan- 526-0152-00.

Hp laptop dv9500 noisy and loud fan ...

The sound you are hearing is probably the fan, This fan has a noisy bearing and will eventually lock up and the fan will stop spinning and therefore the CPU will overheat and shutdown.
The fan needs to be replaced.

The DV10 has a futuristic-looking outer casing and two internal speakers located behind a silver grille mesh at the rear. Heat is removed through its side ventilation and the internal fan has a noise level of 27dB, which is comparable to a loud computer and quite distracting when watching movies at low volume. At 368 x 117 x 273mm, the unit is small enough to permanently and inconspicuously reside on a coffee table.

this is from a review .

it sounds like that the fan needs to be cleaned the sound you hear is normal but if it sounds like its racein the moder might be on its way out if you have a can of air used to clean a key bored i would try to clean it out with that if not take it to a repair place to see if they could look at the moder
