Question about Olympus Camedia C-5000 Zoom Digital Camera

Turning computer off without disconnecting camera

Hi, I've just been uploading photos from my C-5000Z onto my laptop and absent mindedly switched the computer off first without disconnecting the camera first (usually I do the safely remove hardware option) anyway, now the camera wont turn on. Have I messed it up for good or is there a way to get it working again? Thanks

I would not think there is a connecxtion between the two. Check out the camera battery situation for starters. Then come back

Importing pictures

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I have no problem getting the pictures off my camera onto my computer. But my problem is when I am trying to download my picture onto a website (kijiji) it doesn't want to do it. Help

you don't indicate what the website says when you try to upload photos to it, without that info I don't know how I can help you. most problems like this are usually cause by trying to upload either the wrong format photo or too large a file. try lowering the resolution you photos so that the file you send to the web site has photos that are no larger than 50 to 120 mbs in size, if that works, then you know what the problem was.

Buttons do not work

You can upload pics without doing anything except turning it on.
You can turn it on, plug it in and use either media player or picture viewer or equivelant program to sync the device. Most these programs have a sync option that will take all media off camera and put it on computer. Unless you are using a sim card and have a card slot on your pc

I need help loading videos from my camera onto my laptop

Hello sarahmcgrath

Use the usb cable supplied with your digital camera and plug it into your computer. It then should automatically be detected and give you the option to transfer photos or videos to your computer. If this does not open check your My Computer for irremovable media drive. The memory card in the camera will show up as another driver letter open up then copy the photos or video from there to your computer.

Pleaes rate my solution, thanks

Unable to view downloaded photos on camera screen

I had a Camedia 560 and it had this problem. Take a picture and then look at your memory card or camera from the computer. I think you will see that there is a complicated structure of folders - the pictures are in one folder and there is some kind of index file in another folder. The camera cannot display pictures restored from the computer unless you restore the index files as well as the picture files. Sorry I can't remember the details, but one way to do it would be to copy every last thing on the memory card. Not very convenient. This is a design flaw - my new camera doesn't have the problem and will display any picture I copy to it provided it was taken on the camera and not rotated or cropped. It doesn't mind other editing like putting a caption in the photo with a paint program. Panasonic Limix.
