Question about Breitling Aerospace 455 Wrist Watch

2 Answers

Backlight for my breitling aerospace has stopped working, otherwise watch is working perfectly.

It was just serviced july 2011 and I would like to avoid a costly shipping/insurance fee to return to the service center if it only requires a simple repair (ie-replace batter.) The watch is no longer under warranty. Suggestions??

Also, this watch is 5 1/2 years old and was serviced at a Breitling maintenance center July 2011.

If the display is not dim the battery is probably OK. Try removing the battery, test it anyway, and after a minute or two replace it (I'd use a new one anyway) and see if the problem is cleared. Sometimes just power cycling will "reboot" the watch. If that doesn't do it I'm afraid it will need to visit a Breitling service center.

SOURCE: My breitling chronomat stops working even while

Every mechanical watch must be serviced within 2 - 7 years depending on what movement is is fitted.
Find your nearest watch repair shop and as for overhaul ( this is how we call full service of any watch).
Reasons for stopping can be numerous, but usually it is gummed oil, dust particles, and wear and tear.

SOURCE: how can i replace the battery on a Breitling

I suggest that you got to "www.breitling.com" and after getting past the pretty pictures you click on "maintenance centers" and find the one nearest you.

You can get into difficulty replacing batteries and it is not worth the risk for the small cost saving.

One fairly frequent cry for help is because the owner can't get the back on again. Also since watches frequently include gaskets to keep water out, difficulty can be experienced in fitting the back and maintaining the seal.

SOURCE: It's very difficult to adjust my breitling

Normally this is from the crown and case tube being dirty. This slows down the rate at which the crown can be turned so the switch inside cannot get triggered to move the hands quicker. Sometimes the turning action can also be so that the switches do not actually 'see' the crown was turned and so the hands do not move.

The solution is to have your watch serviced.

Hope this helps.

press button till in time mode then pull out crown wheel and rotate slowly to adjust minutes or spin quickly to adjust an hour at a time.

If the digital and hands don't agree the process for correcting this is in the manual on the link above.
