JVC MX-C33 Tape Drive Problem

Both tape decks are inopperative. i believe the right one needs a drive belt. The left one may need a replacement part. The door won't open, appears one of the idler rollers(spring loaded) is not in correct position. It's not under spring tension, seems to be hanging. can I buy replacement parts? Drive belts....Idler Roller...Idler Shaft...etc?

SOURCE: tape deck not working

I had the same problem and fixed it. It's simple: Open the case by removing the 6 screw on the outline back of the system and the 2 black ones on each sides. For me, it was the right tape who were problematic, so I started the player to see what gear was turning badly. The problem is: that gear don't have enough power to complete his action, so give it an additional (but not to much) power with your hand to complete his action and the system must succeed the action and stop running.

Push the little white latch..you will notice a spring mechanism inside. Once you push on the latch the spring will move and release the lock.

SOURCE: Tape player not working

i have had this problem with mine what you can try is when it does the clicking sound you can take your fingers reach under the black part w/ the head and gently push up when it clicks if you hear more clicks and the part moves then try pushing and holding the tape switch located at the left or right top corners of the player then press play if the head goes up but the clicks 3 times fallowed by 6 clicks the repeat the process. what is going on is if they r not use it tends to lock up

Left Deck Door Stuck Shut on Cassette Deck

Hi what has happened is when you pressed play the tape head that reads the tape has come up as normal this locks the door as you cant open it when its playing but instead of the tape head releasing and going back down into start possition it has become jammed in the tape itself.
You have two options turn off at mains and give it a gentle bang a couple of times this might free the tape and let the head go back to start possition its upto you how hard you tap it but doing this usually works and will allow you to get the tape out failing this then its going to be a case of stripping it down till you can get access to the tape head and be able to free it from the tape allowing door to open let me know how you get on ok and if you need further assistance

BOTH doors jammed on TC-WE605S

Some tape decks are belt-drive. If the belt is worn, it will either break or jump the cog and you will experience these kinds of problems. That's what happened with my Sony ES deck recently and I couldn't even eject the tape until I got the belt replaced.

JVC MX-C33 Tape Drive Problem

there are small rubber belts that drive the tape spindle that makes the tape play! Over time these stretch and become loose and make the tapes play slowly and even shut down (replace belts and it should be fine) these belts are located in back of tape spindel and are about two inches long!

{11-30-13)
TO FIX THE CASSETTE DECK BELT PROBLEMS:

- Disassemble the player.

(you will need only one, long, phillips head screwdriver $5.00)

[It is a tedious job. (first,study how it is put together) There are 6 screws on the back - three down deep holes, three at the bottom, and two dark colored ones on the side. Once the front covering is off, then you start the process to get at the Cassette deck. You will have to unscrew a ground wire; pull the "tape" connections and one wire bundle snap fitting; and then unscrew the two screws on the back, near where the wires for the speaker connections are placed... then remove the Cassette Deck.]

{I sat in my recliner with the whole thing in my lap as i worked with a foot stool near by to put things as they came apart... and i used a metal salad bowl to through the screws into as i went along.}

- Study the drive mechanism.

- See where the drive pulleys are.

- Use small elastic bands to replace the broken belts.
(small = 1/2 inch diameter ... the size of your little finger, but will stretch out to two inches or so.)

https://www.google.com/search?q=small+elastic+bands&espv=210&es_sm=122&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=6rGaUrTlCszloASJw4KQBw&ved=0CGYQsAQ

I happened to have these on hand:

12_1_2013_4_19_19_am.jpg

- I did this on my JVC PC-XC70BK and it worked.

- Both the player-side and record-side decks had broken belts.

[The fast forward and rewind wouldn't work on either side.]

(Per each deck: one drives play, one belt drives both Rewind & Forward)

- Now both decks work.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TO FIX THE CD PLAYER ISSUE:
- My guess is the laser pick up is dirty (because they all face upward and oily film builds up on them).
- First try a disk cleaner with a brush on the underside of it.
- If that doesn't work, then (after taking off the front plastic cover plate {see above}), you can see where the upward pointing laser lens is. If you can, use Rubbing Alcohol on the end of a Q-Tip to probe into the area and thoroughly clean its surface. Then wipe it clean with a dry Q-Tip.
- If you can't get at the laser lens, then Disassemble the Unite.
[There is another ground wire that must be unscrewed from the deck assembly. And there is the issue of the tape connections leading to the top part of the unit ... they will flop around and fall out of their place once you have pulled them from the connectors ... with a bit of observation you can get them back correctly.]
- Unscrew two screws at the back ... then pull out the tray assembly.
.... then go as far in the disassembly as you need to so you can swab the laser lens with the Rubbing Alcohol.
- Re-assemble. I had one screw left over.
... ROTFL but i know where it goes and i don't care to get it there... so to hell with it, right?
Everything works fine now. Not bad for a 17 year old piece of equipment that has a Ten CD storage tray... that you can't get anymore... right?
Cassette player on mx-d302t
Hi As you know cassette decks have been around along time, and as such they are fairly robust. The vast majority of the time, problems like you are describing are the result of a broken drive belt, or bad capstan motor. This is not true for all, but if you have favorite tapes you wish to play, you need the deck fixed, and if the problem is drive belt or motor, the repair normally should not be hugely expensive. Hope this helps, good luck!
