The jumper between the buttons and motherboard may be disconected. Open up your ps2, see if there is a blue /white ribbon cable that is unpluged. If you have already opened your ps2 rrior to this, thr case map be jamming the button.

When i turn my computer on for a second light goes green then red and stays flashing red and playstation wont come on.??

Base from the description of your problem it seems that your PS3 encounter a overheating issue that leads to a hardware failure, but we can still try to do a reset here and see if that corrects the problem.

You can perform a reset by holding down the Power button for about 10 seconds. The power light should turn red, then you can let go of the button.
Your PS3 has been reset, try to power on the unit normally to see if your problems persist.

If still same problem have your PS3 check from a service center or contact Sony for repair or replacement if its still under warranty.

My ps3 is dead!!!. flashing red light

Hello,

Follow the procedure below to fix the problem on your ps3,

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System.

Take care.

Black screen pushing red to green donot work do not hear any beep

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor)....

My playstation has the light trun green yellow flashing red light

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.
