I recently purchased an HP Pavillion a6040n PC and I am using my old printer but it is an all-in-one and I have tried to install the software into the new computer but since it is windows vista I can't install it. Is there anything I can do?

Re: Installing software in new computer
Your printer doesn't need drivers( the OfficeJet V40)Vista has it built in!. For instructions to install go here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00808543&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=60630&lang=en

disconnect all the cabled from the printer and leaving behind only the power cable. Then try turning on the Printer. If it still doesn't turn ON then it means that its a hardware fault. Please consult HP for it. But if in case it does turn ON (the chances of which is very less) then it could be a software issue with the computer. Let me know what happened.
1. Check the disk on another computer and see if you get response from the disk. a. if you do then this may be your cd rom or DVD read/writer is not working properly. b. If not, then the cd make be a corrupted copy. 2. Call the manufacturer and ask for a new copy since you have just purchased the printer. They should be happy to send you a new copy of the installing software. 3. Take the unit and all it's compnents back to the place of purchase and inform them of the issue and request a new printer with a new copy of the installing cd and get assurance from the store manager that if it doesn't work can you bring the unit back and get a refund.
This is a work around as I have the same problem. If I change the default printer to something other then the HP printer, then select Page Setup, I can then select the HP without the program erroring out. You can even set the HP back to default and TValue will continue to work fine until you restart the computer.
