Acquired a 57h82, that has a convergence issue.
The picture is ghosted in red and the red convergence cannot be adjusted left to right. Up and down is ok.
I replaced both of the convergence chips, but it made no difference.
I assume as I did the chip replacement, and the issue is still exactly the same I did it ok.
Does anyone have any other ideas... I have heard that some resistors on the board can be a problem, and should be replaced, but which ones and how do I check them?

If the TV looks zig zag or scrambled and its moving aroudn the screen the hypermodule has failed.
If however it looks 3D or warped and is not moving around the convergence is the issue. You can get DIY repair kits including all parts, instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com
By the red being "off" I suspect you have a convergence problem and adjusting will bnot likely fix the problem. The convergence amps need to be replaced but if you email me I can send you the servoce manual... Just provide me with enough info in your mail, model number, because I get nearly 3000 emails a day and I won't likely remember what manual you're looking for...

This may be a convergence issue but it is difficult to determine with that description. Watch this video and see if it will help you determine if you have a convergence problem or possible something else.
your convergence amp ic's./if you want to cheat/align the other two colors and manualy move the green yoke rings on the green picture tube neck so the green cross aligns with the red and blue.,they shuold form white when all three are aligned,on top of each other.
There are probably eight to ten resistors sitting behind the heat sincs the Chips mount on. You will need an Ohm Meter the easiest way to check them is just compare them with one another, you will see a pattern then you will see one that is really high or open (infinity) that is the one to change check the coor code on it to be sure you replace it with the right size
