My Rino 120 won't turn on anymore. I turned it on to change channel, turned it off then was never able to turn in back on.

I tried replacing the batteries and bending the metal where the batterie are inserted. Tried to reboot by depressing the joystick + page + power on buttons.

I've got a 130 that was over volted by accident. I presume the internal fuse was blown and took it apart, but it isn't apparent where the presumably tiny surface mount fuse is located. Anybody able to point me in the right direction?

How do you get the unit to open up to access everything? I removed the screws and have been gently trying to open it up, but I can get it open and am stuck. Thanks for any help.

SOURCE: Garmin Rino 130 no Power

There first 2 main thing to check..... the off on switch.... and the fuse. Insie the radio there is a very small fuse.... its a surface mount component fuse... very small. That could be the problem. Also check the contacts on the radio..... if you have a way of connecting the correct voltage directly to the radios power terminals using jumpers I would definatly do it. Your most likly going to have to take the raio apart and and connect the battery to trace the power through it. The small fuse will be one of the first components after the positive power input. If this seems too much..... bring it to a radio shop... they can do all this quickly

By reading a number of forums, I've found that there was a WAAS satelitte update (bug), that causes this foul up.
The only solution I've been able to arrive at is DISABLE the WAAS feature, as no Garmin Update/patch (for Rino120) has been made available.
To shutoff the WAAS feature press your [Page] button until you arrive at the "Main Menu"
go down until your on the "Setup"(hammer)
go in (by pressing in, on the directional button)
go down until your on the "System"(gears)
go in (by pressing in, on the directional button)
go down until your on WAAS, go in and select the Disabled
go up to the "X" (top right) press it, then you can [Page] button anywhere you want from there.

----------
Wonder what WAAS is?

Take care.

PS- Garmin if you read this....I would like to have my WAAS back, and since I registered for updates, back in 2005, why didn't I get an email from you telling me about this issue (when it happened and provide a solution - at the same time :: even a work around as I've posted here)

SOURCE: Rino 120 - Disabled WAAS

Have you upgraded from Software version 3.2? Version 3.3 addresses a memory overflow problem when receiving two or more WAAS satellites.

SOURCE: Garmin Rino 130 Shut Down

I had the same problem; mine would shut off when bounced around too.
I used a #0 phillips screwdriver (very small) to take out the 6 screws that hold the case together, Carefully separate the face and back because there are wires that can be broken if you pull them apart too fast.
After you get the case apart, lift up the circuit board at the bottom and you will see a small blade pin that sticks out from the side where the batteries are and is supposed to slide up into a contact on the circuit board. I guess over time it starts to wiggle and get loose so I carefully bent the pin (very slightly so it would rub the inside of the contact.
So far I have tested it by dropping and beating it up a little and it seems to have fixed the problem.
Hope this helps.

How come the garmin 120 radio isn't compatible with standard Motorola walkie talkies

When programmed to the same frequency and code settings the Garin Rino 120 should match the Motorola TalkAbout line of radios. They are all using the same UHF FRS/GMRS frequencies. Here is a link to the Garmin user guide where you will find the frequency charts on pgs. 100-102: http://www.uky.edu/~jmlhot2/courses/for480/Rino120_OwnersManual.pdf

Toshiba 50HP66--can't change channels anymore

Have you tried to unplug set for a while and turn back on?

If that does not help contact Toshiba to see if common problem on this model and if any possible software upgrade is available for this problem.

If still no luck someone will have to examine it and decide which board is causing this and replace it.

LED does not work

you have damaged the screen and it will likely need replacement. there is one other possibility... you may have loosened a connector inside the radio... tap it gently with your finger to see if there are any changes in the display
