Can you pls tell me what error message # 2881 means?

Error message 2881 means that the camcorder can not read the disc. Check to make sure you have the correct disc type. Only DVD-R 4.7GB and DVD-Ram types will work. If you are using the correct disk type, then you can try this: Eject the disk and if it it empty just open the cd door. With the lens to the left and the door on the top. look into the device. You will see to the left side a metal platform that houses the dvd laser. take and push the platform all the way to the left. Sometimes the platform fails to retract, so once you do this it may clear the issue. . Good luck and thank you for using FixYa! We would sure appreciate a 4 "thumbs-up" rating for this FREE answer. I have a Panasonic palmcorder, vdr-m30-pp, that keeps coming up with an error message 2881. I can't get past it to do anything and I have a bunch of mini dvds that have never been finalized. I want to...

that error is to do with the lazer lens that reads the disc, you can try a cleaning disc or using a can of comressed air.
it could also be a worn spindle, but that normally makes the mechanism noisy.

ERROR 2881

The manual is available online at: http://merchant.satisfusion.com/sf/library/manuals/owners/DZMV350_380A.pdf
This error is a read error-- try buying a cleaning disc and using it, or using a new, fresh disc. Likely the read/write optics are dirty.

Error code 2881

I found this problem only when I tried to use a RW disk. The camera will not use a rewritable disk. I reformated the disk in my computer but it still would not work in the camera.
