OK, here the thing, because you can't do anything, try booting up in safe mode!
To boot in safe mode you'll need to wait till the laptop finishes POST(The first screen you see when you just turn on the laptop) At the exact moment after it finishes, start pressing(not hold down) f8! When you see a menu that has Safe Mode at the top, you have pressed f8 enough!! LOL
This will bring you to safe mode, when you login you'll see a dialog box, press yes for now(We don't wanna try a system restore yet). Work around in safe mode and see if it runs better and doesn't freeze!
If it doesn't run better(if it does skip this paragraph) or still problematic then it could be hardware related! i.e. your hard drive or memory(RAM)!
Go to start->Run then type cmd an press enter
type chkdsk c: /f /r and press enter
wait till that process completes
If you get an error like unrecoverable errors found then you'll need to change your hard drive! If it finishes look though lil report it give and see if there are any bad sectors, if there are then it hard drive has problems and might be able to repair via software!
One way to verify the memory is put in a known good memory in the laptop!
If it does work better then its software related and you need to clean up your software!
get back to me after you tried this!

Could be that the graphics driver is corrupt, so check this by My computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and look down the list for display adapters and click on '+' sign, right click on next line and select uninstal.
Restart notebook and graphics will automaticaly be installed.
If still the same, try to think back when it started and go to programmes>accesories>system tools>system restore.
Select restore my computer to an earlier date and go back as far as before the problem started and select a date that is not greyed out and select next and allow a restore, you will not lose any saved documents.
Also run a spyware scan and a registry and temp files clean up
If you dont have a temp file and reg cleaner, download this excellent free tool and analyse and remove all uneccasary files.

Dear you didn't inform me which browser you used. Firstly, If your internet connection is too slow then the fb page can't load properly because of the fb contain too images or video for this reason the page can't load properly. 2nd, If you use internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox then the reason is in browser directory contain a crash file which is accused for it. So you can principally uninstall the browser program then reinstall it again. Finally restart your pc. 3rd, Normally remember Compaq laptop is not too first i mean its ram or processor. So if you use so many programs which will load on ram and processor. So please uninstall unnecessary programs from your laptop. I think you will get your solution.
Computer randomly restarts is not something unique happened to you. Sometimes there is a dreadful total crash of the system and sometime it sends different errors, upon restarting nothing happens.
-- First of all disable the auto-restart option from your control panel settings -- Remove any recently installed maliciously software/add-on or any other application or toolbar. -- Try to cool down your PC as the overheating due to overuse of computer may result in system freezing and sudden restarting. -- Update your BIOS. -- Update the drivers -- Make it sure the error is not caused by the deficient power supply. You may try to change the power supply. -- Conduct the registry clean up scan for quick fix of the problem. -- Remove flashy games and/or untrusted antiviruses/antispywares. Conduct the security scan through the most powerful scanners only. I would recommend to use a system utility tool like PCFresher to fix windows errors and registry errors. Then try updating hope problem is fixed.
You don't say exactly at what point in the boot sequence the system crashed and restarts. Many things could be at work here. You say you are using the HDD from the previous system. Did you swap this drive straight out and are still using the OS load from the previous system? Windows loads drivers at startup based upon the hardware installed. If you are using and old WIndows load with a new mainboard, this could be the entire cause of your crashes. YOu may be able to get to SAGE mode and remove the old drivers and try to restart the system, but from experience I will tell you that to get the best results when installing a new mainboard, you should reload the OS from the original OS disk, and then load the new mainboard drivers.
Frozen Screen problem mostly occurs when one has recently updated the phone software. If that's the case with you taking battery out should have helped. Try resetting it this way.
> Turn the power off. Take the battery off and then re-insert it. > Hold the Volume Down button > Hold the Power button until the display turns on > You are now presented with a menu that allows for Clear Storage. > Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button > Press and release the Power button to select > Press Volume Up for Confirming your action. >>> If you selected YES, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state and would also wipe all 3rd party applications.
