II have a 50pfp5332d/37 that has black screen. Has sound i assume hear static through speakers. Power supply seems fine, led is steady on. x board heat sinks are warm to the touch. For the y board once pwered up the y board seems to get extremely hot, top and bottom y buffer boards seemed to get very warm also. there are three heat sinks on the y board, the bottom heat sink got so hot i was barely able to put my finger on it. after about a hour an hour it seemed to be at a reasonable tempature along with the buffer boards. I have removed them and inspected and see nothing burned or shorted. Back before the tv quit working i remember i would hear a loud pop every now and again then one day the screen just shut off. but it appears everything has power including all other boards. screen is totally black no soft glow.relays in power supply seem to be be operating fine. Just dont understand why the y board and buffers get so hot the seem to return to a normal temp. is this why board my problem? what about buffers?

The capacitors for 2533,2540,2541,and 2508 should be replaced. They are all 100uf 16v surface capacitors. Those capacitors are sold on amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Rubycon-Electrolytic-Capacitor-IMPEDANCE-Continuous/dp/B0015A8U9M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&m=A6Q8GCHJGURD6&s=industrial&qid=1225140147&sr=1-2

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

Hello
The power regulator PCB has some fault it it. It does not outs proper regulated voltages needed to the other PCBs in your TV. Normally Plasma TV power regulator PCBs are very difficult to repair, and PCB as whole should be replaced. If you give this set to Philips Authorised service center, they also will do this, and they too can do only this. In my opinion, it is best to get it repaired by Philips Service center, because, Plasma displays are very sensitive to static voltages, and repairing it without proper measuring instruments and circumstances, may damge it and it is irreparable. If fuse is gone out, you must aware that there must be som sort of short, or overload inside your TV circuits. If you have technical skill, a proper knoledge of the power regualtor working, and mor confidence and patience, you can do this. You have the ability to follow the schematic diagram of your set, which can be obtained from philips website. You must have a high quality digital multimeter, and static free DC soldering iron to go on. Some times, an Oscilloscope may also be needed.
Beware, your TV has built on most modern electronic technology, and is colstly one. Never attempt anymore on it, if you are fully aware of its working principles, and proper knoledge in Electronics. Philips uses some special components of their own, which cannot be purchased locally.
Determine yourself, what to do. OK.
